Yes there are 2 hours since I just repaired an engl for a friend, I also adjust the bias and change the powertubes with =C= 6l6, the preamps tubes I put was a JJ ecc803 and a EH on the first stages and another =C= 12ax7 on the phase splitter, now that dude is the happiest in the world, he was...

=C= and JJ are my favourite power tubes, it is real amazing how an amp could change its attitude just replacing the power tubes

Totally wrong, el84 are used on Class A ( bad called single ended ), Class B, Class AB, 6v6 are also used in that topologies, the only truth is that in class A amps it is better to use el84 due the few watts they dissipate, you could use a 6550 on a class A but maybe you will lost a lot of money...

in orthodoxism terms a class A is not compatible with a push pull topology, but in guitar amps, that terms are very diffuse, they speak on class A, single ended as the same thing and they are a very good aproach, but... in other fields class A and single ended are not just the same, they are...
