    Yeah!! New metal grill 2x12

I was in the market for a speaker cabinet and found a metal grill 2x12 half back at guitar center.com. All the listing said was that it contained Black Shadow speakers. Once I got it home I opened the lower compartment and was surprised to see a Vintage Black Shadow VS-12 on the bottom and a...

    Metal grill 4x12's. tell me

I'd say buy it too. Take out 2 EV's and sell them. Then put in whatever you want to replace them. One thing I liked about old Mesa cabinets was that they mixed speakers in their 4x12's. I used to have a metal grill 4x12 back in the early 90's and it was a mistake custom ordering it with all...

    Speaker recommendations

It all depends on your taste. For me, I tried my MKIII blue stripe through V30's, EVM 12L's, G12T-75, MC-90's, and Vintage Black Shadows and I really prefer the G12T-75's. There is a good speaker shootout on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWK0sa7tlfI which goes through about 15...

    Mark III Rhythm 2 gain???

Thanks MrMark. I primarily use 1 channel at a time. So if I have the Rhythm 2 engaged and have Volume 1 on 10 than that is all the gain I will get out of Rhythm 2. I suppose if I wanted to add more gain to the channel I would have to run a pedal in the front of the amp.

    Mark III Rhythm 2 gain???

I finally had the chance to try the other channels of the MKIII besides the lead channel. I've looked through the manual multiple times but I just don't see how you control the gain for the Rhythm 2 channel. Maybe I missed something.

Received my metal grill 4x12. Need some help

Thanks gts. I was able to confirm with Eminence that these were indeed made for Mesa Boogie. However, they could not tell me the model number. So I have a call into Mesa to inquire about the exact model number based on the Mesa part number. Again, thanks for your help.

Received my metal grill 4x12. Need some help

Thanks gts. Here are some close up pics of the speakers. Based on the info below I was able to determine that the bottom 2 speakers are eminence speakers but I don't know what model they are. The sticker reads: (on far left) 763395 (on far right) 67-96020097 G6 8 OHM I found this...

Received my metal grill 4x12. Need some help

I bought this cab over the weekend and need some help identifying the speakers. I know the top ones are MC-90's. The seller told me the bottom 2 were eminence so I was expecting there to be some identifying marks. I don't know if they were original to this cab or if someone put these in...

    Mesa Boogie Metal Grill 4x12???

I will be picking up a metal grill 4x12. The seller said it is original and is loaded with 2 Celestion Black shadows on top and 2 Eminence on the bottom and it looks like a half back cabinet. Does anyone know roughly what year Mesa was building these cabinets so I can have a rough idea when it...

    NBD (new baby day)

I'm a proud parent of a new baby girl. She weights 75 pounds and is 17 inches wide (give or take). And she screams, oh boy can she scream. Of course I'm talking about my Mesa Boogie MKIII Blue Stripe Combo. So far I'm really liking the sound. I have a .50 cal + (which is the first real amp...

6L6 GC STR 420 tubes for .50 cal

Ok, I found some additional info. I should have went to the Mesa page but it shows that the 6L6 GC STR420 were replaced by the STR440 tubes. I think I will get the STR 440 tubes. Thanks.

6L6 GC STR 420 tubes for .50 cal

My original 6L6 tubes had been replaced years ago. My amp has been sitting in a closet for years so I decided to take it out and give it an overhall. I found the original tubes which are 6L6 GC STR 420's. Can these still be bought or is there an equivalent pair that can be bought, from say...

    1990 Mesa Boogie Cabinet

Thanks sixtonoize, Black Shadows rings a bell. I once had a boogie cabinet with the black metal grill. I think I bought it around '92 or '93. I special ordered it with 2 celestions and 2 ev's. It was heavy as hell (literally). Again, the one I purchased was a special order. I just wanted...

    1990 Mesa Boogie Cabinet

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum and I have a question for you all. I had a friend in this band around 1990 that played a mkIV head with a mesa slant 4 X 12 cabinet with the black metal grill. He had the coolest tone with that combination. Does anyone know what kind of speakers were loaded...
