Multi-FX recommendations for use with MkIV please

Ah. Just found out that the RP1000 doesn't have MIDI. Maybe a GT-10...

Multi-FX recommendations for use with MkIV please

I'm thinking of an RP1000 with a mini-amp gizmo so that I can control all the MkIV channel switching and FX just from the RP1000 board. Anyone else using a mini-amp gizmo with a MkIV ?

Multi-FX recommendations for use with MkIV please

Hey everyone, I'm just about to take delivery of a MkIV and am looking at getting a floor-standing multi-FX processor with a built-in expression pedal which will link to the amp with the 4-cable method and also switch channels. The closest thing I've found so far is the Digitech RP1000 which...

Mesa Mark IV or III, live performance, myths

"I know that Mesa IV was used on many recordings (studio), but I haven't seen any famous guitarist using it on live performances. Why? I'm very, very curious. " Walter Trout, the American blues-rock guitarist has used a Mark IV for many years and he sounds pretty good !

help me with my Mark please

This is an old thread I know, but has anyone ever solved this problem ? I've just got my G-System set up with my Mark IV and I'm getting the pop going to R2 from either R1 or Lead. Don't get a pop switching to any other channel or switching EQ on. Relay 1 is connected to R1 and R2 switch...

Anyone using Class A/Simul-Class switch for solo boost ?

Thanks for all the replies. I've not got the amp to the rehearsal room yet but I'll start experimenting then. I've got various overdrives and boosters I can try so yes, I might go with using one of them in the FX loop if I want to do something else with the graphic.

Questions about new Mark IV Widebody

Wow, thanks for that detailed reply atlst7. Very interesting. I guess if I'm looking for a speaker for the extension cab I'd be best to get one to match what's in the Mark IV, otherwise I'd be mixing two different tones and the results might be a bit unpredictable...

Questions about new Mark IV Widebody

I picked up my Mark IV Widebody at the weekend. Sounds amazing ! I've got some questions though : The sticker on the back of the speaker seems to have come off so I can't identify what the speaker is. Assuming that it's the original speaker what's it likely to be ? How can I tell how old the...

Advice please : Y-cables for switching Mark IV from G-System

When getting a Y-connector cable (stereo->2-mono) for amp switching a Mark IV from a G-System is there anything to consider with regards to quality of cable and cable length ? ie. will the switching be more reliable with better cable and shorter cable length, or does it make no difference ...

Soak resistor required for silent recording on Mk4 ?

No, fair enough. I used to have a DC-3 and the line out from that sucked. Big disappointment after previously owning a Studio Preamp which sounded fantastic, but I guess that's a different beast. It's unlikely I'd use it much anyway. I have a Pod and a Sansamp which are great for recording, and...

Soak resistor required for silent recording on Mk4 ?

But the speaker isn't disconnected when silent recording so doesn't this act as a load ? If not, do I need an attenuator like a Hotplate if I want to record silently ?

Anyone using Class A/Simul-Class switch for solo boost ?

Interesting. What kind of music do you play Mark and how do you boost for a solo now ?

Soak resistor required for silent recording on Mk4 ?

Another question while waiting to pick up my Mk4 : do you need a soak resistor when silent recording as per the warning in the manual ? I'm assuming/hoping this is just a general warning but I want to be sure ! Thanks all.

Anyone using Class A/Simul-Class switch for solo boost ?

I'm picking up my Mark 4 on Saturday (can't wait !) but I've got a couple of questions in the meantime. First, is it practical to use the Class A/Simul-Class switch for a solo boost ? (This is in case I end up having the graphic permanently assigned as I used to on my DC-3.)

Help ! Should I buy a Mk III or a Mk IV ?

Thanks everyone for their opinions. This is really interesting, but I guess it just proves that opinions are diverse and I'll need to find out for myself. I have actually just this evening taken the plunge and bought a MkIV here in the UK as it was on at a good price so I figure I'll see how I...
