Couple of sweet c+'s on the bay.

All of you seem to know your mesa's. I'm just a lowly greenhorn. I know I love their hardwood finishes and the iic+ seems to be the holy grail. I guess I'm thankful that I don't have that kind of money b/c I might unknowingly purchase the "wrong" one(and over pay for it).

Do you need a tube amp if you don't play loudly???

Don't know your electro-mechanical skills but maybe you could build a small one or two watt tube amp and connect it to the speaker of your choice. There are many plans and kits available for this. ax84 is a great site and you can google many others. Check this one...

Do you need a tube amp if you don't play loudly???

I can't see where he was set on a solid state, anywhere. Although a sweet amp, I think 50watts is way too big for what he's asking about. I own a 5, 35, & 60watt(all three are tubes). I never play the big one. When I took it over to a hard rocking band's practice room, they all cried about how...

Do you need a tube amp if you don't play loudly???

These are a couple heads that I like the sound of. The price is right, too. http://www.orangeamps.com/products.asp?Action=View&ID=78 http://www.voxamps.com/us/modernclassic/nighttrain/

Do you need a tube amp if you don't play loudly???

OK. $399 guitar center. I never make it to the big stores. That's probably why I hadn't heard of them. If it sounds good, that's a steal. My friends buy lots of guitars. I like amps. It seems like a crappy guitar will sound great through a good amp but a great guitar sounds like crap through a...

Do you need a tube amp if you don't play loudly???

Wow. I've never heard of them before. I found their site. You were looking at that HT-5? Thing looks pretty sweet. 2 Channels! That thing has a lot of features. It also looks like something they'd be asking $700 bucks for. That's how much I payed for my maverick. Do you know the street price for...

Do you need a tube amp if you don't play loudly???

I agree but with my Duncan'd SG, I get it. I can't get that sparkle from that clip to save my life with my guitar. It's very dark sounding. Is it a blackstar or black heart? Anyway, everyone should own a small, highly portable tube amp. They're perfect for hangin' out with your boys in the...

Do you need a tube amp if you don't play loudly???

I've got a 1x12 maverick and it sounds so sweet. However, I was looking for something smaller that weighed less than the mav's 59#. I was looking for sound samples on youtube and found this amp and it was for sale. I bought this exact amp. It's 5watts, plywood cab, open back 10" mojotone...

Maverick Short Head w/ 2x10 extension.

Not mine but maybe it will interest some mav searcher out there. My maverick honeymoon still hasn't worn off :P I was looking for tubes or a g&l or something and came across it. http://columbus.craigslist.org/msg/885345681.html

    Lonestar Classic - First gig

Congrats on the satisfaction. I take those youtube clips with a grain of salt. They probably get recorded with some built-in lo-fi camcorder mic and then we usually listen on some junk computer speakers.

    Maverick 2x12 or 4x10????

Absolutely! I think anything pre-80's is quite convincing. I play zeppelin all the time along with lagrange and other zz top. I was worried about it not having enough for the dirty work but it delivers in my opinion. Heck, I've even been playing rage against the machine lately. Does it nail the...

    Maverick 2x12 or 4x10????

After playing my 1x12 for almost a month now(and really loving it!), I'm thinking a 4x10 would be the way to go. I've got a couple of reasons for this. I bought the single 12 for greater portability over my all tube crate 2x12. Other than a smaller size, it didn't do that for me. Crate TV6212 is...

How can I tell? What does that mean to me if it is? Serial: MV-01469. Thanks, Steve P.S. The original owner said that he ordered it in black.

The mention of schematic lit a bulb in my head. I've got one for the preamp(I found a site last week that had all of them. I thought I grabbed them all.). v1 is definitely closest to the input jack. doh! Thanks for the responses. I very much appreciate all of the input. Steve

Which is the phase inverter? Looking into the back, are the preamps v1-v6 from left to right? They might actually be labeled. I've still just been playing it and also trying to get my 1st guitar(late '80s Yamaha modded with S.D.'s individually switched with mini toggles) back on the road. It's...

What is the brown sound feature?

I've heard the term for a long time but never knew or gave it much thought. Are you sure it isn't the tone that makes you poo your trousers? JK!

That's sorta why I made the post. I definitely want to replace the tubes but I also want to get closer to the tone I'm looking for while doing it. Great recommendations, so far, guys. They actually might not be due. I think this one has probably sat in a closet under cover for most of its life.

It's got the celestion c-90. It's a little dark sounding. I actually have the original manual and I think I fully grasp the tone behavior. For my clean sound I'm using: bright, volume(gain) between 9 and 12 o'clock, treble 12, mid backed all the way off, bass about 12, reverb 12, volume 12 and...

I wanted something a little lighter than my all tube 2x12 crate combo(circa 1996). The maverick is a '96 model as well. It came to me in FL via Honolulu for $750 shipped. I saw some slightly cheaper(not any 1x12's) but I'm glad I spent a little more. This thing is showroom new, cover, pedal...
