They're different animals, but I think you'll have more luck getting a heavy tone out of a Mk IV than you will at getting a singing lead tone, or smooth tone out of a Recto.

Sounds like a pickup to me. Have you tried any other guitars, or in the other pickup positions?

What is the main difference or differences in tone? Both of my C's have been upgraded to C+. More gain? Smoother? Something else?

I don't have much use for it. It can sound OK, and pretty good with a pedal, but if I've got to use a pedal, I much rather prefer using the Lead channel with the gain rolled down for a crunch then it it with a pedal for extra gain. That sounds much better than R2 to me. It has some uses...

So were the Mesas that Metallica used. I love my Mesas and I think they deserve tons of respect but in terms amps that defined the 70's and 80's rock and metal Marshall ruled that with no contest whatsoever.
