    Mesa newbie needs some guidance

They're different animals, but I think you'll have more luck getting a heavy tone out of a Mk IV than you will at getting a singing lead tone, or smooth tone out of a Recto.

FT or FS: Mesa DC-5 Combo

Great amp, and it's in great condition but not really what I'm wanting right now. I'd like to trade towards a Mk IV Head or combo + money of course. Selling it, I'd like to get 600.00 + shipping. I'll take some pics a little later and post them (When my camera battery gets charged) My...

    Seeking IIC upgrade advice

What is the main difference or differences in tone? Both of my C's have been upgraded to C+. More gain? Smoother? Something else?

    Mark IV R2 uses?

I don't have much use for it. It can sound OK, and pretty good with a pedal, but if I've got to use a pedal, I much rather prefer using the Lead channel with the gain rolled down for a crunch then it it with a pedal for extra gain. That sounds much better than R2 to me. It has some uses...

    Mesa Deserves More!!!!

So were the Mesas that Metallica used. I love my Mesas and I think they deserve tons of respect but in terms amps that defined the 70's and 80's rock and metal Marshall ruled that with no contest whatsoever.

    Mesa Deserves More!!!!

"When you consider the use of High Gain tone in guitar music from the late 70's to modern day what amp company played a bigger role than Mesa Boogie." 70's up? Marshall.

    Simul envy

When I talked to Mike B about modding my IIC I asked about the Simul class and he said it wasn't that big of a deal. He said if I wanted to get an idea what the difference would be, (I don't remember the exact details here) to plug the Effects send or the Slave out (I don't remember which)...

What is it about the Mark IV?

I'm glad some of you guys are loving R2, because I think it's one step away from useless. I'm not trying to get a Marshall tone out of it, I've got 7 Marshalls, I don't need to get it from there. I'd just like to get a useful tone that doesn't sound like it's woofy or sterile sounding. The...
