Turns out I'm a Mesa Boogie guy after all

I fell in love with Boogies in the early 80's, I'm still playing my MKIIB and it still feels good. When recording I use the Boogie and a 65' Bassman in separate rooms for a very full stereo effect....I'm still having fun playing R&R, even if I'm getting to be an old fart.... :D Marshall amps...

    mark Iv not enought ooppmmff....

Start by borrowing you buddies guitar and plugging directly into the amp. If you have active pickups have you changed the batteries recently? Maybe it's time for re-tubing????? Anything in the signal chain ahead of the amp could effect the signal to V-1. Boogies are by nature very loud, Start...

The speaker may be a Rola-Jensen from the seventies. They were tough speakers. Not stock in a Mark II. If you like the tone it's all that matters. If you don't like the tone you have just begun your next Quest for tone :) I like the Legend 121 over the EV or Black Shadow, but that's my ears...

My Mark IV is picking up radio stations

I don't think it's the amp, I did remember using RFI chokes in anther studio once with success, perhaps you could try that. They're cheap, what I did was kept clamping them on the guitar cable at the amp end until the interference was tolerable. Another thought is to use a noise gate, that'll...

My Mark IV is picking up radio stations

In 1984 I put Seymour Duncan Livewire pickups in my Strat. Mainly to cut down ob the room noise when going out into the crowd with a wireless. I still record with this guitar and they still sound great. However after moving my studio, my Custom shop Strat with custom shop 69's in it started...

Recording Mk IIC+ in Home Studio?

I use a closet and close mic a cabinet. I keep the SM57 mic about 6" away from the speaker. The clothing really soaks up the sound. Then I'll adjust the levels, no clipping allowed!!!! I keep the amp close to my recording console and adjust to the best sound thru the monitors to fit what ever...

    TAD 6L6 tubes

I recently loaded my Mark IIB with the TAD 6L6GC STR Black Plates (RCA Black Plate Copy??)and it sounds amazing. The break up an the clean channel is worth it alone but these buggers really rock on the lead channel too. I really like the less volume before breakup compared to the Jan Philips...

Mesa Upgrade for Mark IIB Effects Loop

Ok!!! After talking with Mesa I think my amps been upgraded, although their records only go back 14 years or so. Did Mike B initial the back of your amp at the power cord when he completed the upgrade??? His initials are there on mine..... That would be the cinch-er....

Mesa Upgrade for Mark IIB Effects Loop

I guess I didn't say that right. I believe that the update will change the Mark IIB. I do not doubt Mike is telling me the truth. What I'm looking for are examples of the changes. So I don't feel as tho I would be making changes without knowledge of other boogie users reviews and their thought...

Mesa Upgrade for Mark IIB Effects Loop

I spoke with Mike Marshall at Mesa Boogie about getting my effect loop in my Mark IIB to work with newer effect units. My boogie just doesn't sound well with the effect loop. It is a series loop in the Mark IIB. I did purchase a Rocktron Intellifex and a Peavey Pro Fex(This is for my 69'...

Best Rackmount processor for my Boogie

So the "best" way to inset the Intellefex effects unit is thru the effects loop?? Right now I plug guitar into a Yamaha GC2020C Compessor then into the Amp V1. This is a sweet compressor and a good noise gate also. Very clean. That's it, the rest is Boogie. I've been searching for Intellefex...

2 cabs, anyway to delay signal to one ?

Separate the speakers, put one on each side of the stage. This will create a kinda stereo effect and due to the distance may sound a bit delayed just from the distance change. Letting the lower end unfold will get you a fatter tone. I've had one cab pointed at me and taken the other cab and...

    Correct Volume Pedal

I have a Mark IIB. As I understand it I can get run a volume pedal thru the effects loop and this control's all of the volume/gain of the amp. I've been looking at the Ernie Ball volume pedals and I don't know if a 25K or a 250 K pedal is the correct one to use for this application. All...
