How often do you have to change caps?

You can buy a complete cap set for less than $50.00 direct from Mesa Boogie. They will send you the right caps for your Mark IIB. I just received mine, took about a week. I would suggest getting them from Mesa as they all appear to be Spague caps labeled for Mesa. Except for the 47uf 100 volt...

using equivalent tubes, is it possible?

I'm curious if anyone has tried these conversion power tubes in a Mark series amp yet, http://www.vacuumtubes.com/6BG6.html If they would work it would be a new supply of 7581A's

    II C+ shots

First off I'm really glad the guys like Boogiebabies and Stokes are here to help and guides us on this message board, they are awesome. I have a Mark IIB, and the tone of my Mark IIB is greatly effected by the tube in VI. For instance a Mullard Ecc83 is beautiful chimey and harmonic,(my...

PodXT Live or EQ Pedal for Mesa Mark IIB?

The gain or volume on your Mark IIB clean channel directly effects the gain on the overdrive channel. Less gain on the clean = less gain on the overdrive. The presence control in the back will have some tonal effect also. I like all of the pull controls pulled. I set the tone controls up for...

    Tube Replacement

Right now I have TAD 6L6GC-STR in my Mark IIB 60 watt. I really like them, I liked them enough that I left them in instead of the 7581A's. They sound alot like the 7581A's, I think they are a little mellower, and you get the power tube distortion earlier, so they don't have the headroom of the...

Need help to refurbish/repair Mesa Mark IIB

Get yourself some multi colored Sharpies and color the spot on the amp and the cable your unplugging with a small dot. One color for each cable. This wouldn't be a bad idea for you to do to the tubes also, just in case there's a 12AT7 in there some where. When your putting it back together just...

Volume boost tricks on Mark IIb

I use an Intellifex thru the effects loop that has some gain and some other great effects for soloing. The Mark IIB is the only Boogie that you can control the volume with a volume pedal(Ernie Ball) thru the effects loop, this gives you an infinite variable of volume/tone/distortion on both...

Has anyone converted a MarkIII combo to a head?

I converted my Mark IIb combo to a head and left the combo cab in the anvil in storage. I got my cabinet on ebay far $100.00. It had the cutout for the verb and everything. I did have to change the placement of the holes to hold the chassis in but that was easy. The reverb took a little work to...

    Mark IIb Post FX LVL

I don't know all of the details of the mod, I do know it is $250.00 cashiers check to Mike B. When completed the effects loop is supposed to be more friendly with different foot pedals and other effects as far as the signal strength. The tone is also to show some improvement and the Reverb is...

    Mark IIb Questions

I've been using the TAD 6L6GC STR's, Nirvana is JAN 7581A's, these are spendy. The TAD's, from what I've been advised are Ruby tubes, just there own testing and label. Just the same they sound great!!!!!! http://www.thetubestore.com/tad6l6gc.html I haven't run out of my supply of Mullard...

    Question about my MK II...

Any one button foot switch will work. The Mesa footswitches have an LED without the hassle of a battery. I have a Carvin footswitch that work with the the Boogie also. I'm using a Midi Octopus for all my channel switching and effects, This switch's the effects and the amp channels...

    Question about my MK II...

It will never be a C+, but it will always be a very cool IIA or B. The IIB's are the clean machines from Boogie and they can really kick out the overdrive too.... Dime V1 and crank it to get some power tube distortion also, you can't help but smile.. You can pick up a head cab for yours on...

    Mark IIC+ -retubing

I really liked the TAD 6L6 STR's in my Mark IIB Boogie also. As close to 7581A's as anything else I've tried.

    Back again

I wrote and recorded this song last winter in my sparsely equipped home studio. I do the playing, my son Justin does the singing. Not C+ tones, nor ripping arpeggio sweeps. But it's all Boogie Mark IIB tone. Just a fun song. Tim at EARCANDY Cabs put it on his main page over the 4th of July...

Suitable cab for a MKIV head

I have 3 mesa cabinets in my studio. Since I purchase an Earcandy Sov It is the only cab I use with my Boogie. I still use the Mesa Cabs with other amps (65 Blackface Bassman and a old Vox AC30) I have to say for quality tone sounds from a Boogie the Earcandy Sov fits the bill. It's a 1X12...

    Help with an AB Switch!!!

I've been using the Radial BigShot aby pedal, Lot's of features no LED's. I just leave it on both all the time to a Blackface Bassman and a Mark IIB Boogie. It really quieted the ground loop noise down nicely. A great investment so far. I paid $69.00 including shipping...

    rattling noise as note dies

If you're using noise gates turn them off and see if it goes away. I have noticed noise gates doing this in the past, as they activate they seem to throw some artifact. Most noticeable under high gain settings.

    Mk IIb minor mods

If in fact you have a MKIIB, on the back of the amp the will be a effects loop. Labeled ~ Effects with a 1/4" jacks stacked vertically labeled send and return. I Use the send to the input of the Ernie Ball volume pedal and the return fron the output of the Ernie ball volume pedal. This takes...

    Mk IIb minor mods

If you want variable gain with your MKIIB place a Ernie Ball volume pedal in the effects loop. Not just off and on but infinitely adjustable gain. Very cool.....I'm not sure but I think the MKIIB is the only Boogie model that will do this
