My first Mesa a Lonestar Classic

I'm guessing, but it might be this one: http://www.fenderforum.com/forum.html?db=&message_area_number=15 Look for the "Returned my DRRI for a Mesa Lonestar" thread. -Gary K

    Nomad 55 and 6V6 tubes

No. There is no mention of 6V6's in the Nomad Owner's Manual. Only 6L6 or EL34. I believe the Lonestar Classic can use 6V6's, but not the Nomad 55 or 100. -Gary K

Can anyone tell me more about the Lonestar?

I recommend you go to a Mesa dealer and try one out for yourself. Take your guitar with you. I bought a used Lone Star Classic 1x12 combo recently, and it turned out to be the perfect amp for me, sound -wise. I play classic-rock (ZZ Top, Zeppelin, Hendrix, AC/DC, Doobies, Santana, a little...

    2 Heads 2 cabs

Hi AE4, No, the A/B/Y will not make it happen as you describe it. The A/B/Y solution is this (as an example): Mesa amp head connected to its own speaker cab Marshall amp head connected to its own speaker cab The A/B/Y switcher, in the "Y" position, would send your guitar's signal to both the...

    Why the insane wattage?

The combination of the Lone Star Special (5/15/30) and Lone Star Classic (50/100) would get you there. Between these two you have all the classic power/wattage options. I believe many of these power levels are covered with the Mesa Road King in a "single box" format. Nowadays, guitarists can...

    Lonestar Special Question

When you are talking wattage, you are talking "power amp" wattage. The 5, 15, and 30 watts refers to how much "clean" power the power amp will produce before "clipping". It is this clipping that causes the nice tube distortion sound from a tube power amp. So, the 5, 15, and 30 watts also...

    nomad 100

I bought a used Nomad 55 4x10 at GC during summer 2005. The previous owner had swapped in EL34s. I got used to the amp with the EL34s, and didn't know it until I took a look and found the EL34s in there. I bought a pair of Mesa 6L6s, and tried them. Went back to the EL34s, haven't looked...

Thinking about getting a Mark IV

Recommend you find a Mark IV and play test it for yourself. I just tried a new Mark IV and returned it to the store, it was not what I expected. I have a Mesa Nomad 55 4x10 (6L6/EL34) that is more suited to my style of playing and provides the overall tones I want. Guitar Center has the Mark...

Fuzzy, Buzzy, Muddy Single Rect-0 2 problem finally SOLVED

Old-Guy, Congrats on your Lone Star Classic! I have also come to find out I favor the 6L6/EL34 tube sound more than the EL84s. After you spend some time with your LSC, please post a message about how you are liking it. -Gary K

Mark IV 1x12 Combo, Tone Question

***** Zeppman, I will try lowering the bass. ***** RussB, Thanks. What I don't quite understand, I also have a Nomad 55 4x10, open back combo, and it can do "chuga chuga". This is the only thing about the Mark IV combo that is missing for me and my style (classic rock). I love all the...

    50 Caliber + WITH EL84s! - NEWBIE HELP!

I had a .50 Caliber+ head for a while. I played the head through a 3/4 open back 1x12 Mesa cab with a C90. I was happy with the clean and the distortion tones. I don't know if it compares to a Mark or anything else, but I was very pleased with the tones. -Gary K

Mark IV 1x12 Combo, Tone Question

Hi, I like most of the sounds I'm getting from a Mark IV 1x12 wide combo, *but* ... It does not "chug" well (repeated palm muted first fret E chord, for example). It seems to be flubby sounding, not crisp. This is using the 1x12 internal speaker (C90), plus a 3/4 open back Mesa 1x12 ext...

New Lone Star Special, High Freq. ringing w/ Les Paul

Hi, I solved the problem, I returned the LSS, and purchased a Mark IV. I could not "warm up" to the LSS, try as I did. I came to the conclusion that I favor the 6L6 and EL34 tube sound. I have been running the Mark IV in Class A Triode mode, with (2) 6L6s and (2) EL34s, and I am liking it...
