How to get a Steve Vai/ Joe satriani tone from my MK5?

This ^ is true. Those guys go back and forth between neck and bridge but most of the fast "shreading" is neck.

I suddenly cant dial in my Mark V...

I just got a Recto 2x12 horizontal and I suddenly cannot dial in the amp (CH3)! I am frustrated to say the least. No balls, either its shrill or there is no high end, no body. I know a 2x12 is not going to sound like my 4x12 but wtf? Should I try EL34's and go from there?

    Mark V Low End

No question it's EXTREME. Of course there is a volume increase that can be deceiving but it def has more low end.

My Mark V head just blew a rectifier tube

hahaha, it sounds like something my bass player and I would say to my drummer repeatedly. And it would never get old to us and he would think we were being idiots.

    mark 4 vs mark 5

The problem is, you cant play the V and "get it". You really have to own it for a month or so. The V is a different amp from the IV and if you had a certain setting you liked on the IV, the V may not have it.

Help me find Mark V love again?

Well dude, that's your problem! The Mark V is not a low volume, solo amp. It is awesome in a band context. Your going to love it!

Help me find Mark V love again?

The V is full of useful tones. I do agree that it is a high gain monster, but you can use the amp for all sorts of genres (sp?). You may want to take a different approach to dial the amp in and just start over. I did and I couldn't be happier. For instance, turn the gain down and use IIC+...

    mark 4 vs mark 5

um, your missing the point. He is saying not to sell the Mark IV untill you give the V a solid try.

Post Your Rig! Must Include a Mark V.

Have you had a chance to compare the Mills 2x12 to a Recto 2x12. I would be very interested in your thoughts.

You mean can this MODE do metal? It certainly can. Mark I mode has the same amount of gain as the modes in CH3.
