    Mark IIB knobs

Mine is a late model IIB, and has all black knobs too, so I think they are original..I don't now about the initials..

    are cats attracted to amps?

My dog knows when my tubes need replacing. She comes into the bedroom at about 2 am. She stands there looking at me until I wake up. Then she whispers, “Dude, your tone stinks”. No, really.

    Recording my vintage boogie!

I didn't want to spend too much on a pre-amp, so I bought a little Behringer 4 Ch mixer. It has phantom power & a pretty good EQ, & only cost about 40 bucks.

    Mark IIB verification

I think the 4 switches are for: Power on/off Standby EQ 60/100 watt Not sure of the order.

Mark II A, B, or C, how can you tell?

FYI: My late-model Mk II B has all-black knobs.

Stock Speaker in a Mark IIb?

Mine came with a 150 watt EV. Are there no labels on your speaker? D

What is the Mark IIB worth?

I'm liking it plenty. I'm still discovering ways to use it. Some days I like it better than others. Lately, I’ve' been playing with a new sound (for me). I set the Vol 1 to 10, treble to 7, bass to 3.5, mid to 2.5, presence to 5. It gets a good grind. for lead boost, I switch on the gain...

What is the Mark IIB worth?

I got mine for $800 2 years ago. (60 watt, no EQ, no reverb, black tolex). I've seen a loaded 100 watt Mk IIB priced at $1000 recently. Add a few hundred bucks if it wood & wicker. I live in the midwest, where stuff is cheaper. They seem to add a few hundred bucks on the coasts. I've also seen...

Recommend pedals for the Mark IIB

Boy, I've used a bunch of pedals with the clean on my Mk II, most of them sound good: DIY Fuzz Face Clone Digitech Screaming Blues Big Muff Mesa V-Twin Those, plus a Cry Baby, Dano Octave, Dano Delay & a Boss Chorus. Clean, the Mark II is a great amp for pedals.

Pedalboard or modeler with Mesa Mark IIB?

No eq, no reverb. Nuthin fancy! P.S. Sometimes, I do use my old Wah with the ToneLab.

Pedalboard or modeler with Mesa Mark IIB?

I have a Mk IIB (no graphic EQ)& love the clean sound, I also like the brown sound I get from the lead channel with the gain pulled. That said, when I need a versatile rig, with lots of different sounds, I use a Vox ToneLab SE run into the FX return of the amp. I use lots of different amp...

    Mark IIb Post FX LVL

Does Mike have to add any tubes or other circuitry to the amp, or is he just adding another pot?

    Question about my MK II...

Stupid fingers. I meant to say Mark II-Cs. Oops. Dirt

    Question about my MK II...

Yup, it's a Mk II. The S/N on mine is in the 10XXX range, & has black knobs. What features does yours have (EQ, 60/100W, reverb)? These amps are great. They're not Mk IIs, but they are bargins. Great clean tones, rugged, & sound good cranked. I call mine "the Pocket Bassman". :) Dirt

    MK II Clean Settings??

OK. For a Strat or Tele, clean country-jazz-blues: Vol 1 = 6-8, brite pulled Treble = 6.5 Bass = 4 Mid = 3 Master = 1-? (depends on how loud I need it) Lead Master & Lead vol disabled I use the speaker plugged into the 4 ohm jack. Presence @ 0 initially, I''ll tweak it up depending on the...

I used the Ernie Ball's on my MkII. Guess Ididn't pay enough attention to detail, I didn't notice a difference!

    Mark 2b Footswitch-non mesa

I built my own footswitch box from the Mesa schematic. (The Mesa schematic says that the resistor in series with the LED is 680 ohms). It doesn’t matter what kind of footswitch you have, the IIb will pop. I asked Mike B about this, he said that's one of the "features" of that design :). It...

Best "small" amp clone/brother, for Mark I type to

I have not tried a Mk I reissue, but my understanding (this is from the Mk I manual http://www.mesaboogie.com/manuals/Mark1%20Reissue.pdf ) is that the amp in "tweed" power mode lowers the plate voltage to the power tube. That, combined with the 100/60 watt switch in the "60" position yields...

    Mk IIb minor mods

I have done the volume pedal trick. It’s pretty cool. My footswitch is just to activate the gain boost , which is the same as pulling on the master knob on the MkIIb. The Boogie manual describes plugging in the volume pedal to the pre-amp out / power-amp in under the chassis. This woks like...
