    MKIV first impression

I just got use to using a 4x12 from my band days. I guess I can't imagine not using one. I just play at home too! :D I really like it with the mix of V30's and C90's too. They just compliment each other very well. I'm not the one to talk to about tubes though. I've always just used stock...

    MKIV first impression

Congrats on a great amp! I do love my IV! It was one of the last one's made. It's actually my second IV. I bought my first one around 1992 or 93. Should have never gotten rid of it. I was just burned out on the band thing at the time, and let it go. Glad I could get another before they...

    Mark 4 plexi ???

I'm not sure about any of the things you mentioned, but I happen to like the tones I get from either, or both of those pulled. I don't use them all the time, but the Mark IV is a tone beast! I personally think it's hard not to get a great tone from any of its options, but it depends alot on...

The Touring Rig is COMPLETE! Major LOUD inside!

Anyone here go from III to a IV and regret it?

Congratulations! I've never played through a III, but I do love my IV!!! My favorite amp!

    Custom 22 or Les Paul?

I used to have a Les Paul Custom and loved it. Wish I wouldn't have gotten rid of it. Long story short, a few years back I wanted another guitar that would get that thick tone. I decided on a PRS Custom 22. After owning it for 6 months, I decided to get rid of it. In my opinion, it was not...

Homebrew pedals; less costly, sound great!

Very cool BF! I wouldn't mind trying one of those 5 knob comps. I've been eyeing those BYOC kits for a while now. Is it totally necessary to have a multimeter, or can you get by without it?

Once again I'm doubting the V30's

I'm not overly crazy about the V30 by itself, but paired with a C90 it's a different story. I think they compliment each other well.

Mk IV Fan under chasis ??????

The fan is installed by Mesa Boogie, totally OK and the transformer looks normal. If you plan on changing the shell, I personally would install the fan also. Mesa puts it on there for a reason.

Hey LTE, how do you like the Bad Horsie? I'm not a Vai fan at all, but it looks like a nice wah.

    Fender Appreciation

Very cool! I don't currently have a strat but used to have a 35th aniv. It had lace sensor pickups which I didn't care for at the time, but the feel of that guitar was awesome. I just loved the neck. One of those guitars you just wanted to noodle around on all day. Anyway, I would love to...

    Les Paul Split Pickup Mod

Yes, that's my setup Jacko123. I got the schematic from Seymour Duncan but that looks the same. I emailed the schematic to Dave McNaught when he took my guitar order. I also had him install 2 mini toggles, a killswitch and a soloswitch. The soloswitch takes everthing out of the circuit and...

    Les Paul Split Pickup Mod

I have the Jimmy Page wiring (split coils, series, and out of phase push/pulls) in my McNaught Vintage Single Cut, with added killswitch and soloswitch. Great tones! Really worth doing! Good luck with your mods!

    Dilemna with Originals

You certainly have to find the right people don't you. I know it's tough. I think it really does take the right combination of people to make it work, obviously. Most folks probably struggle with the wrong members for a while before finding what works. I'm not in a band anymore, but when I...

    EQ in Loop of Roadster?

I use an ART 31 band EQ in the loop of my RK and a BB preamp in front. Sounds pretty amazing, but now if given a choice between using one or the other, I would take the EQ over the boost pedal. Just seems to do more for my sound with a heck of a lot more control.
