Mark IV - EH 6L6 or Svetlana 6L6 ?
I like your choices. The Svets 6L6's sounded great to me. It just seems more punchy and full using all 6L6's. I guess it just depends on what you want to do. I really like the clean channel with all 6L6's. In the Rhythm and lead channel, with EL34's in the outer slots, it's a little more... -

My boogie is toooo buzzy.
I put a 5751 in V2 and V3 in my Mark IV. It WILL smooth it out, and you'll still have plenty of gain in that amp.- bscfo1

What tubes do you prefer?
I've never played either one of those! I did play a Krank Revolution last weekend though. It wasn't too bad, it had a better clean channel than I expected. But the distortion was brutal. A bit fizzy for my tastes. I'd bet if you really turned it up though, it might clean up a bit, but by... -

disassembled, You're right, you could call it burned, but really it's just dissapointment, because my expectations of NOS tubes was high. I really wanted them to work in there regardless of cost. At any rate, my Mark IV happens to sound pretty good even with the stock Sovteks, so I think... -

Guitarzan, That is true - but you have to find a good one, which can be like finding a good mechanic. A new person can be helpless, believing everything they hear from these sages. Good advice is out there though, but this can get expensive. -

My point is it's not a drastic change. If you don't like to sound of your amp and you just can't pinpoint it, it's probably because that particular amp is not for you. So- don't waste your money on expensive tubes to try to change it. Yes - I agree you can make slight changes, but it really... -

Tried many of them and eventually had problems with the amp. I only trust Mesa and Groove Tubes for my Mark IV now. If you really don't like your tone, just get a different amp because you can't change what's in the circuitry. -

Replacing preamp tubes (tips?)
I agree it IS fun, and if you really want to do it, go ahead. I went crazy with it for a while and spent hundreds of dollars on high-end NOS tubes for my preamp. While I thought they actually changed the sound dramatically, once I experienced problems with them, and put my amp back to stock...
