    Mesa Heartbreaker 6V6 question

Does anyone know if running only two 6V6's is okay? I only have two to try out. The manual says when running the power in the 60 watt mode it cuts power to the two center tubes, I'm assuming I could run the two tubes in this setting with the bias switch in 6L6/6V6 position and in the Tweed power...

    Lonestar vs Blue Angel

I've never heard of bypassing the mojo box, but John Phillips has done some pretty indepth reseach on preamp tube substitution which really does work to reduce hum dramatically. I ran mine as per his suggestions but ended up back with all 12Ax7'S. The hum doesn't really bother me on mine.

    Lonestar vs Blue Angel

LSC went back, Heartbreaker is on the fence and the BA isn't going anywhere.

    Heartbreaker vs LSC

I ended up passing on the LS, in the end I prefered the HB just a little more. I really wish it was a combo though.

Thanks for the replies, I'm appreciating my Heartbreaker all over again, just wish it was a combo.

    Lonestar vs Blue Angel

BTW, I'm mainly a roots/Americana style player, not too distorted but definitely on the greasy side of clean.

    Lonestar vs Blue Angel

I just brought a LSC home for a try out, I also have a Hearbreaker head and a Blue Angel. The Blue Angel is firmly on top of both these amps IMO. I'm having touble dialing in a tone I'm after on the LSC, it's seems either to dirty or not articulate enough, either or. The Heartbreaker I love...

    Heartbreaker vs LSC

I just brought home a single 12 LSC combo for a test drive and I'm finding it to be very similar to my Heartbreaker head. The reverb seems a little deeper on the LSC, but the cleans seems a lot fuller, warmer, and cleaner on the Heartbreaker. Was the LSC supposed to be a design based on the...

Victoria Victorilux 310 or a Lone Star Classic?

I'm a real sucker for Victoria Amps, I'm fortunate enough to have a Low Power Twin and a 3x10 Bandmaster. The Victorialux came up used from a friend who owned it and I got a great price on it. I needed it like a hole in the head but it's way different than the tweeds. My favorite is still the...

Victoria Victorilux 310 or a Lone Star Classic?

I recently picked up a Victorilux 3x10 running EL84 output tubes. A couple of weeks previously I took home a LSC to test drive and loved it, but couldn't afford to keep it at the time so I took it back and it's still in the same shop that the Vicky turned up at. I picked the Vicky because I'm...

    The Blue Angel Appreciation Thread

I just put a Jensen P12N reissue in my single 12 Blue Angel and really like what it does. Very compressed sounding and clear as a bell at lower volumes. Sounds great with an Epiphone Sheraton. I've used this amp on my last two gigs and will go again this weekend. Like a knucklehead, I broke...
