Which power conditioner do I need?

I was looking at Furman power conditioners, and boy are there a lot of options! So what do I really need in a power conditioner? I was looking at the Furman M-8DX. Any experience with this one? Please, someone chime in as to what I should be looking for in one of these.

    For the love of Mesa...

+1 I love my Roadster too, although admittedly it has been a volatile, love/hate relationship. I was strongly considering getting a Mark V, but totally couldn't do it. While I sometimes feel that the Roadster is a bit on the boomy side, I cannot live without having access to the Recto chunk...

    Roadster Lead Tone

Actually I think it was clear from my first post that I implied bass, and not recto "chuga, chuga" thump. I figured that the triple rectifier would smooth and mash the sound so much, and in my experience with my Roadster, the rectifiers smooth and lower the sound more. The notes aren't as...

    Roadster Lead Tone

Yes, but don't they give you some bass. I didn't mean chuga, chuga. Thanks so much for clarifying what I said. You are a life-saver!

    Roadster Lead Tone

I like the manual suggested "hot solo liquid lead" for my lead tones. It sounds very good -- of course, boosted sounds better. I also like a compressor with this setting, unboosted, using the solo switch. Sounds very Mark series, but not quite as liquidy. The Roadster can do a lot for you...

Roadster users, can you please answer this for me?

I will! You are one of the most helpful people on here -- you and Laskeyman! Thanks! Thursday I'll be taking her in for a checkup. Hopefully it'll be problem solved. I have a show at the Middle East Club Friday!

Roadster users, can you please answer this for me?

Do Furmans help that much? It happens with the humbucker, which is surprising. So, radio interference is maybe what is causing all of this. I do have my laptop near it, but unplugged. Could that still cause it? Also, I do notice that my 50" TV causes a strange insect sound in the amp, but...

    Single Rectifier vs Roadster

I think he might have the treble dimed, and the presence at 3 o clock.

    Single Rectifier vs Roadster

Wow, that tone is good. Is that really how you achieve that, with the presence up? I'll have to try that myself.

Roadster users, can you please answer this for me?

Thanks for the reply. I did switch out the V1 with a SPAX7. And I have tried to disengage the loop. I get a ton of noise on channel 1 with the volume at 11 o'clock. Do you on your Roadster? I have tried both of my Strats (HSS), and have the same results. One of my Strats is an American Deluxe...

Roadster users, can you please answer this for me?

No responses yet? Geez, don't be bashful people, I know there are other Roadster owners out there. Lend me your time and you ears.

    Right then...

Nice post. I really want to try out the Trident. Not for the extra headroom or wattage, but because I am wondering if the extra rectifier can give the EL34 sound a bit more sag and chunk than the deuce. I play guitar in a band where I am the only guitarist, so to have something that could...

Roadster users, can you please answer this for me?

Try this is you can. I used to turn up my output to 2 o'clock, then tweak the individual channel's master volume for bedroom playing -- this way I could get some good crunchy tube distortion at low volumes for home playing. Anyways, I have not done that with my Roadster in quite some time...

    Digital versus Analog delay

Surprisingly, the Boss DD7 is a very, very good digital delay pedal. Set right, the analog mode on it also seems very authentic. Try it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvda3RVczhg

Why are some Mesa preamp tubes marked....

Why are some preamp tubes (Mesa branded) marked as Russian or Chinese, yet some just say 12ax7?

    Roadster Owners: Power tubes revisited?

Rydock, don't buy the hype that your cleans are not affected by the switch. Seriously, the Mesa manual is dead on accurate -- the Brit mode is 100 times better, but other aspects of the amp do sound thinner -- which isn't so bad in terms of gain. On channels 3 and 4 there is plenty of gain and...

    Roadster Owners: Power tubes revisited?

I stayed with Mesa EL34s. I bought the amp last year, and barring any freakish turn of events, I'd rather just play it safe. Are other branded tubes so much better? Rydock, do you get a lot of hum and slight buzz from you Roadster with the loop engaged, master volumes on all channels low, and...

    Roadster Owners: Power tubes revisited?

Just made the switch to EL34s last week. Aside from the clear loss of my nice, "cut through the mix" cleans, the gain channels all improved by a large margin. The amp is a lot smoother now, and less bass heavy. Still a boomy as hell Roadster though.

    Distortion/Crunch

Can the Electra Dyne get distortion that is good for rock -- for example The Used or Green Day. I am not into this type of music, I am just curious as to the Dyne's capabilities. Right now I am torn between the Dyne and the MKV. I have a Roadster, but I want something a bit more articulate...

Seasoned veterans of the Mark V, why should I get the Mark V

How heavy is the combo? The Mark footprint is a lot smaller than the Roadster footprint, right? The Roadster head is a beast to lug around. I am pretty sure that the Mark comes with the caster slide things on the bottom, no?
