Mark IV clean channel is dirty

Try swapping out the preamp tubes. I had a similar problem and swapped out V1. Good as gold now. Might be the batteries in your guitar too. But if new battery don't fix it, try new a preamp tube or two.

    6V6's in Mark IV

I have a set of 6v6's in my Mark IV right now. The manual says to run it in Simulclass and on Tweed. Seems to be working just fine on my amp. No excessive heat and some very nice tone.

    FS: Mark IV 1992

I've got a 1 owner (that would be me) 1992 Mark IV narrow combo with the black shadow speaker for sale. Images can be found at: http://www.artisticremodelingofva.com/johnf/ebay/mesa It currently has 4 Mesa 6v6's in it. I replaced one preamp tube in December with the stock Mesa 12ax7. I have...

    Mark Iv Question

Well, I'm just gonna pretend I didn't read any of that  Cause I can't afford another Mesa! And my wife would string me up by the... well, you know how that goes... Although I will say the love I hear around here (and elsewhere) for the IIc makes me curiouser and curiouser.... No...

    Mark Iv Question

I don't play any metal on my MK IV. It's not a recto... I am a blues/jazz/classic rock/rockabilly guy. I play a strat a tele and a Gibson hollow body through it. It does great Freddie King, B. B. King or Clapton tones. But it'll do Hendrix and SRV or Allaman's and Santana.

Just retubed Mark IV with JJ's. WOW!

I just retubed my MK IV with Mesa 6v6's that I got from someone here on the board. Thanks Frank. Super Wow! Same thing as you, fell in love all over again. No that my amp sounded bad! It just now sounds better. But my tubes were pretty old as well. I didn't want to admit how bad they...

How to tell difference between wide and not wide MK IV

 102? OYE! Me too, I love mine and have had it since new back in 92. I wouldn't trade it for anything... even a C+. You'd really have to work hard to convince me, anyways! And it is a beast! I'm very glad it's not cumbersome... cause heavy and awkward would be a real pain in the...

How to tell difference between wide and not wide MK IV

Well, mine's 18" wide, so I guess I have the super narrow body combo! Seriously, it is only 18" wide and has no blue light on the front... now I'm a little jealous... I want a little blue light....

How to tell difference between wide and not wide MK IV

I did some searching and couldn't find the answer to this question... My luck, it's probably int he MK IV thread and I just glazed over it as my eyes glazed over! How do I know if I have the wide or short combo MK IV? I know mine is a MK IV A, but other than that, I don't know richard...

MK IV Acting Weird Trouble Shooting Question

I had a somewhat similar experience, though not quite as extreme. My amp volume was funky between channels... RHY 1 was really quiet compared tot the others. I used another amp for a while and when I turned my MK IV back on and played it last month, it was 'flubby' sounding at any volume. I...

To Tube or not to Tube

Couldn't remember off the top of my head if it was 84's or 34's. Thanks! Thanks so far for everyone's replies!

To Tube or not to Tube

That is the question.... Actually this is a bit of a setup and then a couple of questions! So, I've got this MK IV and I've had it since it was new. I bought it back in 92 or 93. It's got the original tubes in it. Granted there were a couple of years there where I didn't play at all and it...

    compressor and Mk IV/IIc+

+1 more on the DBX. Great little unit... and it's got two channels so if you really wanted to play, you could run one channel before the amp and one through the FX loop...
