I'm know I should have a lot of cushioned space around the amp. I assume I should pull all the tubes and wrap them seperately and carefully. Correct? Anything else? Thanks

The guitar has 3 G&L Z-coils. Technically a humbuckers, but slightly favors the single coil side tonally. Not in this case as I've got it dialed in to sound more like a bucker. They are pretty high output pickups.

What kind of Duncans? My Bluesbird has a '59 in the neck and it sounds really nice, clean or dirty.

Yeah, I have not understood the few comments here about not-quite-enough headroom with the LSS. I leave the gain at 10:00 myself on Ch.1 and definitely achieve enough clean volume to play with a drummer. On rock tunes too, not just blues. Are peopel m istaking EL84 color for breakup?

I've been thinking about a speaker swap, but probably won't try it. Channel 2 could use just a little more bite, but the possibility of Channel 1's cleans getting worse is very real. Since I'd rate Ch. 1 clean as a "10" and Ch. 2 as an "8", I'm not going to mess with it.

Man, how do you have the rest of the amp controls (or guitar) dialed in? I can't imagine I haven't tried everything with 5 watt /ch. 2 already but I'm all ears. Thanks.

Okay, I'm confused now. :o) The LSS could use some more brightness and sizzle in channel 2 in my opinion, but I'm not sure which speaker is brighter.

It has a different tone to be sure. It is LUSCIOUS on channel one clean or slightly overdriven. It is worthless for high gain stuff which is a shame -I thought it would be great for getting low vol power tube satuaration. It does that, but the tone sucks - Too furry and bland, no sizzle. Just...

Just saw on the Mesa site that they're ALL "Black Shadow" speakers. Did not know that. So what are the tonal/performance differences between these two? My LSS has a C-90 in it.

Hey, I had the same problem, but I worked through it - Took me weeks though, not days! I'm really happy with channel 2 now. If you've searched this forum (there's been some posting about this) and tried everything else, try using the optional 35 watts speaker output. Its not quite as nice...
