FS: 2011 Mark V head w/ all goodies and original box

I am reluctant to have to sell this amp, but I really need the money right now. Bought it a year ago and love it. It comes with everything including the original box. It will come to your door packed as Mesa would pack it to send to a dealer. All plastic wrappings, etc. Excellent condition...

well I joined the club this weekend!!!

Glad you are enjoying it! I have owned many Mesas over the years, but the V is the only amp that has made me stop looking at other amps. I did sell my first V to buy an AXE FX, but now I know what that is like and have had my 2nd V for almost a year now. No regrets! Just loving my tones...

    Average warm up time?

I wonder if it was just a matter of his ears adjusting or him making the mix better by the end?

    Preset contour knobs

    No doubt!!

    just bought a used/mint Mark V

It is not a plug and play amp so if I were you I would give it some time, plug straight up with no FX, and really give it a chance. If it's not for you then no biggie - just ditch it and go back to your Stiletto!

    Average warm up time?

Yep, that's all I usually give it to warm up before turning standby off. As for it opening up later.... I have never really heard the tone change from 30 seconds in and beyond...

    Preset contour knobs

    My thoughts exactly.

    The Edge setting

Try running a 12AT7 in V2 preamp tube slot to combat that sour halo around the note issue. Also use 45w, 4 ohm tap to help smooth this mode out as well. Treble and presence settings are crucial! Turn them both down and turn up slowly to taste.

Like EL34s, going back to 6L6s

    Prefer 6L6s for sure.

TC Electronics Flashback Delay on Mark V

I don't notice an increase in volume with my Flashback in the loop...

I thinks it time for tubes...

I put a quad in my Roadster when I had one. I'd like to try some in my V. They did sound great from what I can remember.

Best Speaker for a Mark V

    V30 FTW IMO

Mark IV grille in Mark V

I would venture to guess the screw holes and dimensions are different, but measure and see if they are the same. If so, you can always just use velcro to attach the other grill so it's not permanent. Or make a new grill.

For those hobbiests who play their V at home

I agree - the amp opens up quite a bit once it gets just above shouting levels. This is especially true when in 45w/4ohms!

    GASsing for a V....

I had a V.... sold to buy an AXE.... then ended up crawling back to another V after a year and a half.... the V gives me all the tones I strived for in the AXE. If you only use a couple presets and effects on the AXE then it's a no brainer. The AXE is made for the musician that records, plays...

I ditched the EL34's! Back to the smoother & creamier 6L6's!

6L6s all the way for me too. I just love the character of these tubes with this amp.

    Strats with Mark V

I agree. My Peavey has HSH pickup config with the Herman Li switching system installed. It is standard Ibanez style switching with the tone pot pushed and all single coil tones with the tone pot pulled. I felt like it was only fair to have the single coil switching available since it is a...

    Pedals with Mark V

I'm running all TC pedals with my V: Corona>Flashback>HallOfFame in the loop and PolyTune>MojoMojo out front.
