Did anyone else just buy a Mark IV on a whim?

I bought a Roadster after having played one at a store on Denmark Street. I was shopping for amps, had about £2k, walked in and said "I want a Mesa/Boogie" so the guy said "how much do you want to spend" "2k" "Walk this way sir..." I must have played it for a good hour before i came out of my...

DC5 does seem to be a little dark

I've just been tweaking mine and i'm actually struggling to find a good tone out of the lead channel for chords in drop D. I really want a big meaty tone with plenty of gain but with clarity aswell. All i'm getting out of my SG is bass bass bass! It's so annoying though because i've got a great...

DC5 does seem to be a little dark

I've not had my DC-5 long (3 months maybe) but i do spend a lot of time with it. In fact i've just been playing it this minute. I can totally understand why people say it's a "dark" amp but to say that the treble and presence controls don't affect the tone is crazy imo unless you are using...

THD Yellow Jackets in a Dual Caliber

I love my DC-5's clean channel but would love to be able to properly saturate the power tubes with the lead channel. However I find that with the gain above about 2, the cleans start to break up. I'm using hot single coils on both of my guitars, so even through a Fender Twin i'm getting crunchy...

    DC-5 question

I own a metal switch one but had no idea there was any difference between mine and any other! More gain?! I play post-rock and rarely go above 4 or 5. I find that with the channel and master both set to around 3 i'm at a decent practice level and have enough gain. I think the best sounds from...

    Playing without fan

Yeah haha my Orange Tiny Terror stinks the room out after rehearsals. They don't call it the toaster for nothing!

    Dual footswitch for DC-5?

Hi all, I should probably know this but can i use a two button stereo footswitch to select between channels and the EQ on my DC-5? If so, how? If not should i just use a stereo switch for the EQ and a mono for the channel? Cheers!

DC-3 Clean Channel - Static Crackling Sound???

Take it to an amp tech asap and don't play it again before you do! (Unless you love the smell of burning amp in the morning)

Pulling a tube on the DC-5?

Is it safe to do this? I'm just interested to see how different it would sound

    I couldn't be happier...

Yeah totally. Our other guitarist is a bit "tone" deaf lets say. He couldn't understand why i wanted to sell the Roadster because it was "the second best Mesa you can get" haha. I suppose money talks! The greatest thing is that because i've saved so much money on this i can now buy a car...

    I couldn't be happier...

Yeah MkIIIs are great! A friend of mine swears by them and has 2, a green stripe and a blue stripe which he runs stereo. I must say how much i prefer my DC-5 over my old Roadster. I payed £500 for the DC-5 and £2000 for the Roadster (just the head!). I never found myself able to ever really...

    I couldn't be happier...

with my DC-5! I traded my Roadster head in for a DC-5 combo and an Orange Tiny Terror and cab. In my opinion, for the sound I'm looking for the DC-5 absolutely nails the Roadster! I play rhythm and some lead in a kind of post-rock/indie band and love huge, thick crunchy sounds for chords - the...

EQ footswitching problem with new DC-5

Hi guys my new DC-5 combo arrived today and i immediately found a clean sound that i am really happy with! I haven't quite found my sound out of the dirty channel yet but i'm getting close. I do have a problem though. It seems that even though i have set the rotary switch on the back for the...
