with my DC-5! I traded my Roadster head in for a DC-5 combo and an Orange Tiny Terror and cab.

In my opinion, for the sound I'm looking for the DC-5 absolutely nails the Roadster! I play rhythm and some lead in a kind of post-rock/indie band and love huge, thick crunchy sounds for chords - the DC-5 is incredible for this! It's so punchy and driving and it even stays true to my guitar's sound and my pick attack! And the clean channel is just amazing - so deep and lush! I've never been a fan of Fender cleans, i prefer more dark and gritty cleans and this thing just has it in spades.

I'm absolutely in love with this thing and i would urge anyone who hasn't played one to go and try it out - with a little time you will open up an absolutely stunning amp!

I just...love it! :D

Why they stopped making these I will never know. Dang good amps!

Glad your enjoying yours. Me likey them Mark III's too. :D

Yeah MkIIIs are great! A friend of mine swears by them and has 2, a green stripe and a blue stripe which he runs stereo.

I must say how much i prefer my DC-5 over my old Roadster. I payed £500 for the DC-5 and £2000 for the Roadster (just the head!). I never found myself able to ever really push the Roadster, even in 50 watt mode it didn't seem to really scream. I think maybe it was just too complicated for me - too many bells and whistles and too sensitive to tone controls. With my DC-5 i spent about a week playing with it and found my perfect sound! I'm now running it in stereo with the Tiny Terror, using a Radial Switchbone and a TC Nova Delay for some cool stereo stuff. Played out last Saturday and our drummer complimented me on my tone! Our DRUMMER!

Bigger is not always better! i've been getting some awesome tones out of my Rect-o-Verb combo that I never got out of my Roadster. Like you, I never could push the Roadster to 'scream', but the RoV screams much easier for some reason. It's hard to get a bad tone out of the RoV. Anyway, I know what you mean about getting a seemingly 'lesser' amp and being more happy with it!

Yeah totally. Our other guitarist is a bit "tone" deaf lets say. He couldn't understand why i wanted to sell the Roadster because it was "the second best Mesa you can get" haha. I suppose money talks! The greatest thing is that because i've saved so much money on this i can now buy a car! There's probably a joke in there involving cars and Roadsters...

Cool sounds like you have the same attitude as I.

All them bells and whistles just dont tickle my fancy.

A nice simple amp is all I need. Thats what I really liked about the Stiletto Ace but I couldnt bond with the lead channel.

I love the DC-5's and am currently looking for one though definately gonna keep my Mark III.
