    TriAxis/ 290

I know you said you're looking at a 20/20 but my take is if you can afford a 2:90 get it. It sounds great at any volume even without the half drive engaged. I had a 50/50 and it sounded really good as well but the 2:90 just has a bigger, fuller richer sound to it. I also feel that I had to...

    retubing my 290...........

So I just re-tubed mine with the EL34/6L6 combo (all Ruby's) following the diagram earlier in this thread for the blue light version. (Thank you for posting that btw!) Sounds flat out amazing.

    Mesa 2:90 Volume question

What Ando said is the first thing that came to my mind as well. Something is definitely up as at 10 o'clock it should insanely loud and more than loud enough to jam/gig with. At 2 o'clock...well that's complete face melting volume and I can't imagine ever needing anything that loud unless your...

    50/50 Lo mode switching question

I've done it and it shouldn't hurt at all. The pop is the only thing but like bluestometal said that's normal.

Buying (New) Tubes On Ebay (Non Mesa Tubes)

Any thoughts on buying non Mesa tubes on ebay or the like? Again, they will be new, just a brand like Ruby, etc. Am I taking a big risk here?

Buying (New) Tubes On Ebay (Non Mesa Tubes)

Thanks! I am actually looking at non mesa tubes like Ruby's. Am I at risk putting those in? Do vendors like Doug's actually match to mesas specs and am I better off just going that route?

Buying (New) Tubes On Ebay (Non Mesa Tubes)

I'm going to re tube my 290 and am trying to save a few dollars by buying my tubes on ebay. I'm focusing on reputable buyers and new tubes, but am a bit concerned about bias. Do the tubes need to be biased to mesa's specs or am I okay with going with this approach? Do sellers like doug's or...

    New to Triaxis

Yeah the power amp makes a huge difference. I've used my Triaxis with a 50/50 for a long time and it's always sounded really good. Recently I got a 2:90 and it's a different animal. Similar for sure, but sounds deeper, more harmonics, fuller, more tonal options, more 3D....just...more is how...

    retubing my 290...........

I definitely want to do this. I just got a 2:90 and it hasn't been retubed in awhile so I'm going to do it soon. I can't tell by the manual, how do you know which sockets are Class A and which aren't? Can you tell by just looking at them?

Triaxis Lead 1 Red Settings With Fat Mod

Lol yeah man I was messing with it tonight with modern, deep half, everything and just can't really get a sound I like out of it. All other channels with the 2:90 are absolutely fantastic. They were with the 50/50 too, but the 2:90 just sounds like......more, I don't know how to describe it...

Triaxis Lead 1 Red Settings With Fat Mod

Before I have the fat mod removed I want to give it one last go especially since I've recently landed a 2:90 power amp. My set up if fairly common, TriAxis, 2:90 and Recto Cabinet with V30s. I wanted to see if anyone had some good settings with a similar set up for me to try, particularly for...

Hi. Sent you a PM with a question on the 2:90. Thanks.

Still looking to buy my first Boogie!

What is your price range? I ask because this will probably dicatate any recommendations. The interplay between the power section and preamp is very important for what you're looking for. A good Mesa power amp (which is what you'll need) will run you between $300-$700 depending on what you get...

Best Metal Guitar? - Metallica/3DG/Megadeth/Lacuna Coil tone

I'll add another vote for the ESP LTD Deluxe. Great guitars for the money. Every one I've tried has been top notch. They have the T/CTM models too which have thicker bodies and are supposedly more LP like but I haven't tried one of those.

    Alternatives to Triaxis/2:90 rig?

You make a lot of really good points Elvis, especially about focusing on playing rather than tone. I catch myself sometimes obessing too much about pick ups or my rig and not playing enough. That's when I just kind of say, no more tinkering for a few months, just play. With regards to the...

    Alternatives to Triaxis/2:90 rig?

I've thought about doing the same (don't have a 2:90 though, 50/50), however I do use a lot of the channels on my Tri. I like a lot of different sounds and it's fun to experiment. (actually addictive!) Not only that, since I'm in into a lot of diverse styles of music I would be hard pressed...

Effects Processor Stopped Controlling Tri Axis

Thanks for the reply Ando. I'll try messing with is some more tomrrow night. Lol I've had the Triaxis for awhile and never had an issue and then I start messing with stuff and look what happens! The Roland is OLD, like mid to late 80s old. I don't know how it rights MIDI commands, but I can...

Effects Processor Stopped Controlling Tri Axis

Actually I think I kind of figured this out! I must have hit something with the programming function. What I had been doing was just calling up a preset (and not worring about the program) and hitting Enter twice to map it to whatever channel I had on my GP 8. What I was trying to do was...
