Why aren't the Express people posting anything?

Had mine (5.25 1x12) a few months now and done several gigs with it, including some sizeable, crowded rooms. I've never had to have the volume at much over 10 o'clock-this little thing is loud! It took me a while to optimise settings for a good, clean rhythm tone and a nicely purring overdrive...

    5.25 question and slight concern...

Thanks for the reassurances everyone. I get a bit anal about this stuff!

    Fender + Mesa = ???

I play a couple of Telecasters through a 5.25 1x12 and couldn't be happier with the sounds I get.

    Faulty tube or faulty amp?

Yeah, thanks Pete, and you're right. I called Manson's where I got it and spoke about my concerns and it appears all is well. The blue glow is a result of more current being drawn in Class A (I believe). What bothered me initially, and caused some confusion, was that both valves glowed the same...

    Faulty tube or faulty amp?

Looks more like the blue glow in the photo but only one was glowing blue and it was instantaneous the moment I switched to Class A, 5W. Both tubes looked normal when in Dyna-Watt mode.

    Faulty tube or faulty amp?

I switched on very briefly and it was arcing during that time. The amp is barely a month old.

    Faulty tube or faulty amp?

Fired up my Express 5.25 1x12 and switched it-for the first time since I oened it-to the 5W setting and noticed blue arcing in the left hand power tube, as viewed from the rear. What's going on, bad amp or bad tube? Thanks.

    5.25 question and slight concern...

I took a look in the back of my 5.25 today just to check that the tubes looked ok after a recent gig, and noticed what looked like a drip of varnish (?) running down the edge of the small transformer which is directly behing the 5W/Dyna-Watt toggle. Are transformers varnished or coated with...

    Speakers compared

Thanks for that, it was very interesting. Now, if it had only been an Express 5.25 1x12 with a Telecaster...

    Express 5:25 w/10" amp settings?

Boy did I ever find out quickly how amp settings vary from guitar to guitar! My old Les Paul broke a string during a song so I quickly reached for my spare-a Strat-and plugged it into my F50. Result? Thin, fizzy, no guts. I have found that Boogies need a bit of care and time in order to get...

    First gig with my 5:25

Gig report, as requested. Ok, so we turned up at a club I hadn't played before here in Exeter to find a room a good 100' x 60' with a wood floor and suspended ceiling and quite a lively sound. The stage was around 2' high and just big enough for our five-piece. The bass player was using an...

    First gig with my 5:25

My 5.25 gets its first gig outing this weekend. I spent quite a while in rehearsal playing with the eq to avoid it sounding harsh and brittle with my Telecasters. The treble control is pretty fierce and I keep it at around 9 o'clock with mids at about 2 0'clock. Contours are also around 9...

    Formerly Content 5:25 Owner

I've owned a few Mesas from a MkIV to a Lonestar Special and F50 and, apart from the Lonestar which I wasn't too keen on, I felt that I could never drive them hard enough to make use of their huge tonal potential. The lower power of my 5.25 1 x 12 provides plenty of power for my gigging needs...

Quick or slo-blo mains fuse for 5.52?

The type isn't specified in the manual or on the amp. My amp is European voltage (220-240) and the value of the fuse is T800Ma.

    Award-Session SoloBooster

Anyone tried one of these? Basically (very basically) it's a passive, footswitchable attenuator that sits in the fx loop. It's kind of counter-intuitive in use but works very well, doesn't colour your tone at all and is very cheap-and cheap-looking! It's built by the people who made the...

    New guy; hi!

Just found this great site and wanted to introduce myself briefly. I'm Andrew, I live in Exeter in south-west England and have been playing guitar for over 40 years, mostly blues/rock with some bad country stuff thrown in! Currently I'm playing in a 60s covers band-it's a little cheesy but, hey...
