    Preamp Tube Experiments

Hey Jdurso It's been a long while since anybody posted on this great (dead? I hope not) thread. How is everything going with those NOS tubes? Did you change any of them? I'm tempted to pull the trigger and go tube hunting at evilbay!! Before I said those NOS tubes are expensive...why should...

Roadster - Need more compression - Help

yeah I agree with you about sloppiness, bonkers... this is the old classic amp/pedal combination for leads issue Bruno, I think you will not be happy until you try all of the recommended pedals and then decide wich one is the best for you (that is, if you decide not to sell the amp first...

Recto owners: try this if you haven't yet!!

I use a Mesa 2x12 recto cab... yep v30s... those things can sound really honky and harsh without proper amp settings

Roadster - Need more compression - Help

Bruno Petrucci's concerns regarding the Roadster (RKII in my case) are pretty much the same as mine. I've been frustrated with the difficulty of playing fast lead lines with this amp, because of that loose, harsh and unforgiving feeling when playing. Hahaha I'm making it sound like I'm better off...

Recto owners: try this if you haven't yet!!

I already knew about this trick and it takes a bit of time to get used to the sound because of that "blanket over the cab" feel but once you do you will not want to dial more presence...if you're looking for a smoother tone, of course. Sometimes I dial more presence but it sounds too harsh and...

I learned a little something about the upcoming NAMM

hahah good joke! now... if Mesa ever decides to build amplifiers in China, I would be  to say the least...and I hope that never happens. The Mesa Boogie brand is known and respected for their high quality custom shop products made in USA and that is something not to mess with...

    Barber Tone press for leads?

well, yeah maybe another mesa amp is better suited for leads (mark amps or stiletto) , but i really love my RKII head so i don't mind if i have to buy a compressor or overdrive pedal to achieve what i want... today i set the amp on spongy using channel 3 with 2x6l6 and 2xel34 (same as before but...

    Barber Tone press for leads?

oops! i forgot you made your own pedal... that's out of the question for me because i don't know anything about electronics and i'm far too lazy to build my own pedal  thanks!

    Barber Tone press for leads?

Hello :) Thanks for your opinion guys Old BF Shred so you're positive about the Tone Press being a good choice, that's great! Do you play with the pedal engaged all the time for both riff and solos? The thing that interested me about this pedal when i read about it, is that when engaged it...

    Barber Tone press for leads?

 thanks for your input... but still... if this pedal is the solution for that, maybe a lot more people here would be crazy about it for leads... because i see they have different ways to solve this stiffness and sustain problem (od pedals and eq)... and... yes i wish to achieve this...

    Barber Tone press for leads?

Hello fellow mesanites It's been a while since i posted here... this is my question Is the Barber Tone Press worthy for distorted solos? I want to make my road king 2 feel less choppy and with more sustain and if possible with the distortion of the amp alone... (i hope it is not impossible)...

Need some help about power conditioners

I was told by a friend that i still have to plug to a step down transformer even if i have a power conditioner... well i'll do anything to protect my gear and to get rid of that multi-outlet thing. Those monster 3500 or 5100 power pro look really good.

    ocd users

hello check my thread about the creamy lead tone... the forum guys swear by the ocd... it has to be really good.... and that pedal is in a completely different league than boss metal zone wich i think is horrible... :)

RK2....how to get a smooth creamy lead tone?

Yeah that's right! 8) it is really creamy but right now i can't use that configuration because in my band i need the third channel on raw mode for moderated distortion riffs and so that channel is dialed for riffs ... when i'm not playing in the band i use that setup with the third...
