the presence knob seems to be more annoying at higher settings with my 2x12 vert with V30s than in my 2x12 3/4 back with C90s

I use a Mesa 2x12 recto cab... yep v30s... those things can sound really honky and harsh without proper amp settings

I use V30s and G12Ms. Had G12T-75s but didn't love them. I haven't ever felt the need to use the presence control with any speaker. Honestly, I think the only time I would ever use it is with channel cloning on older 2 channel models, or in raw or vintage mode on 3ch models.

G12m + V30 = epic win!

I find the two speakers operating in combination compensate weakness the individual speakers have. I also love the thickness and pseudo stereo effect of having two different speaker types in the same cab. I also personally like a bit of presence on the red channel of my two channel dual just to add a bit of bite to the sound. Granted, my tone is vastly different from what most people run here so I don't know if my comments are even applicable.

We love a fast, sharp pick attack like on this clip that tracks well in Bb, and I don't find I get that with the presence off.

It sounds alright, but definitely not my cup of tea; I'd want something with a little more girth.

This is a rough idea I recorded a while ago; it's got a little too much gain and treble but I think it's alright. 2 channel Triple with a Gibson LP on the left and Schecter 7 string on the right. No presence, V30 Recto cab.

For me, the whole thing about the Rectifiers is that they really push out the lows (no ****...but read on). They're extremely tight, but that thickness can sometimes be interpreted as flub and feel like molasses to play. Cutting some of the low end in the loop is probably the best way to make them track faster, but in my case, I might as well then be playing my Uberschall.

That's not bad, but it's not our cup of tea... :mrgreen: That type of tone doesn't have enough attack for what we like. We would interpret it as flubby in the low end, as we like to leave the lower end of the spectrum up to the bassist to fill in the gap and that type of tone would start clashing for what we like to do sometimes. Not wrong or right, just our preference.

somewhere between the 2 clips would sound better . icould see silver`s clip cutting through better once bass and kicks were mixed in properly though.
for me pres-off only sounds good when i`m playing alone. on my 3ch triple i`ve got ch.2 modern pres @11:30-noon, and ch.3 pres @ 9:00-10:00.

I tried this method your suggested man, but the amp still sounds as If a blanket has been put over it :lol:

Hey bud, no offense, but almost every post I've seen you make has been expressing some sort of discontent with a recto. You might want to consider selling it.

I tried having low to no presence, and its not great at all. I dont even remembering if it sounded good without the band. But within the band, it didnt stay turned down for more than a few seconds. So its back up around 12:00 and sounds great by myself or in the band.

Sorry you feel that way. lol. No eq in the loop, and my 'boost' pedal is usually off at most shows, and the amp sounds amazing.
