    Let's talk Metal Zone

Thanks guys, that makes sense  My buddies and I say (in the Netherlands); Gain is at about 3 quarters. Or; Gain is at about 7 or 8 (on a scale from 0 to 11. Yeah, we are nerds  ).

    Fx loop jump cable

All my pre-amp tubes are Tung Sol 12AX7's... Some guys like to put a lower gain tube in V4 like a 12AY7, this is supposed to sound better and more clean. As for brands; I tried many pre-amp tubes and like the Tung Sol's best. Chinese tubes tend to have more grain (no typo) than others to my ears.

    Flemming Rasmussen's Metallica notes.

I'm surprised what route you took for Metallica tones... I guess it's a lot of bass, scooped mids, normal highs and lots of Mesa gain. No? If memory serves me right; in the days of MOP and AJFA they (the guys in Metallica) mixed the records themselves, with the equipment they had at the moment.

    Fx loop jump cable

As far as I know... when there are no plugs in the Send and Return jacks, the signal is connected (jumped) within the amp. So a patch cable will just make this connection longer and is not necessary. When I use pedals in the loop I set the level of the pedal to the max. This way you can use the...

[euro-noob-mode = ON] Sorry, but what is dimed? Is that to the max? or is it a very low setting?

Mesa 4x12 - remove grill to get rid of the "blanket" ?

I tried many things... but in the end I sold the cab ;-)

    Hi All, Warning; nOOb Here

Your tone changes at different volumes... but I don't think high volume is absolutely better than low volume with a rectifier. I think my triple sounds great at home-volumes, at band rehearsal and at live gigs. If you know the amp (control-wise) you can get great tone at every level. Start...

    Triple Rec footswich issue

Just measure every pin until you get a current... But, does it switch the amp? Maybe there is just a loose wire in the switch.

    Hi All, Warning; nOOb Here

You have assigned the loop to be "foot switchable"... so I guess the switch on your amp is defeated by the foot switch. [EDIT: wait... looked at it again... it's very different from my triple rec... uhhm... I don't know  ]

    Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier Help!

I have Sovtek 6L6WXT+'s at Mesa's RED rating... are those cold? Most of the time I'm on SS anyway. My triple sounds good at home-levels too, sometimes I like it even better than at band rehearsal  And to be honest I don't get it when people say you HAVE to crank the triples for good...

    Speaker recommendation for Triple Rec

It's a bit against my will, or principals if you will... but what about an EQ in the loop? This will help me at least get rid of the excess bass... right?

Mesa 4x12 - remove grill to get rid of the "blanket" ?

Sold the Mesa cab (made a small profit!). The quest for better tone continues.

    Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier Help!

Interesting about the Bias-switch... I've heard before the recto's run very cold compared to other amps. I have the GZ34 rectifiers... still safe to switch to EL34-mode? What is the main difference btw? Does this make my TS808 redundant?

    Speaker recommendation for Triple Rec

@ siggy14 That is a possibility and in the end maybe inevitable. But I think I'm not comparing the tones... Initially we liked the difference in amps and it made the band sound very heavy without tuning our guitars lower than standard. But this was before the Webers came in. Before the Webers my...

    Let's talk Metal Zone

@ 2Below The sample with the Metal Zone has "Boss sauce" all over it... The sample without the pedal sounds like Obituary! Very cool man. I think the guys in CC play with EVM12L speakers btw. @ Bloodwhore Buy (or DIY) a tubescreamer. This is what you want based on your first post here. I...

    Speaker recommendation for Triple Rec

@ R_ADKINS80 Ok, nice. As far as I could find on the interwebs the Sheffield 1200's are kind of greenback-ish voiced? I tried the G12T-75's (alone and in X with V30's) but I didn't like the sound at all. What are your global settings on your triple with this cab? For me: V30's: channel 2...

    Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier Help!

Play with the fx-send and return knobs on the back... Also, if you keep the master (on the channels) low you can get a very descent tone at home. I own a triple for about 3 years now and I have no problems in getting a good tone at home. I do boost it with a TS808 btw. [EDIT: oh.. bit old, this...

    Speaker recommendation for Triple Rec

! Update ! A few weeks ago I bought one EVM12L 200 watt speaker to try with my Triple Rec... I had high expectations on this speakers based on what people on the interwebs said, but the only word that comes to mind is; meh. I tested it on 3 band rehearsal days over the span of 3 weeks...

Hm interesting, someone in a store told me the exact same thing about EV speakers. Will look into them!
