    "c" hot!!!

If the sound changed to a bassy distorted tone, volume dropped or tube is redplating. Glowing red!!! Change the tubes. IMHO

    Lonestar Questions

I have an older LSC 50/100. I use a Zendrive OD pedal and a Barber Tone Press pedal. While searching, I went through a Fulltone GT 500--Keeley modded TS-9 and a Seymour Duncan Twin tube. Prefer the Zen to any and all of the ones I tried. Very Musical. PS I love my LSC as long as I can turn...

Continued: Thoughts on LSC and LSS vs. Boutique

I also use a LSC and a Zendrive. I love it! The Zen is the best OD I have ever tried!

Best speaker with a 1-12 LSC?

I have read comments about people removing the C-90 from their LSC and removing some of that "woof" from the low midrange frequencies. I am wondering what results anyone has had? I am considering other speaker options, Classic Lead, Alnico Gold, EVK 12L, JBL? Anyone swapping speakers in the...

    LSC loop in/out tone difference.

I have experimented with different effects units through the loop and found having a premium 12AT7 tube like a Mullard $30 ea. and fiddling with the gain structure of the amp send and effects input and output, I can get pretty good results. I wasted all of this time because I want a G...

Retubing Peavey Classic 30 (Nos & new)

We retubed my brothers Classic 30 with a GE 12ax7 in V1, a Jan Phillips 12ax7 in V2. New JJ 12ax7s for the rest including a balanced for the PI. And new JJ EL84s for power. The amp came alive. It sounds much more expensive than it is. It sounds closer, but not exactly like a DR Z or an old...

    RCA 12ax7

RCA 12AX7s!! I am running in my LSC V1 RCA 12AX7 Short Plate V2 Mullard 12AX7 For reverb an Amperex 12AT7 I have a Mesa 12AX7 in the effects loop, cause I don't use it (switch off) and a JJ gold pin 12AX7 ballanced for a PI in V5 I have found that I like the RCA for clean Channel 1 and the...

    5751 / 12AT7 for reverb

I use an Amperex NOS 12at7 for a reverb driver in my LSC. I have used Mullard 12at7s as well. I perceive more warmth, but there is not too much difference from 12ax7s.

    BREAKING NEWS...Fender Buys Groove Tubes!!!!

The Groove Tubes 6L6 GC GE is a nice sounding 6L6. I don't like their preamp tubes, but the 6L6 GC GE is a good tube.

    12AT7 in V1

Mudder, I use 12AT7s, old NOS Mullards, Amperex and RCAs in a lot of my amps. If I have a jazz or blues gig, they work great in V1 and V2 to "gain down" the amp. I also use them in all of my amps for reverb and effects loop circuits. The Mullards are about $30 each, last for years and sound...

Accidentally ran LSC for 4 hours on wrong Bias Settng!!!!

I had 6L6 in it and the switch was set on EL34s. Did I damage the tubes? The amp sounded different. I was in a new club and you know how that is! Could I have hurt something? Help Please Greg

What were the amps you've owned leading to what you have now

1960s Fender Twin (wish I still had it) GK 212G (The first really good solid state guitar combo) GK 250 ML (the end of my solid state phase) 1994 Dual Rec (What else is there to say) ROCK!!!!! 1996 MK IV (Stolen) I still cry about that! Triaxis/2020 rack system (Flexible, but not clean enough)...

Which Mesa is best with a Telecaster?

Lonestar Classic is the best amp that cost less than two grand that I have ever used with my Tele. I recommend it highly.

Do you prefer the factory tubes for your Mesa? Or......

I just had an interesting experience. I got a LSC with stock Mesa 6L6s, one tube didn't survive the shipping. I got a new set of JJ 6L6s. I thought I liked them, but I on a whim put in a set of slightly used GT 6L6 GEs and I am much happier. I play country and blues, the JJs seem darker...

    Tone differences between rectifier tubes?

The main difference between NOS and curent production rectifier tubes is: Almost everyone agrees that NOS last MUCH longer than current production tubes. I have never heard a difference, but I run NOS for the durability.

    Triaxis retube HELP

I used a Triaxis for years. The best thing I ever did was use a Mullard 12at7 (balanced) in the V3 (effect loop) and V5 main outputs. It warmed up the tone and made my G major sound much better. In V1, I like Tesla NOS ECC83 or RCA 7025 tubes, but nothing made a difference like the Mullards...

    Noisy 20/20 fan

I had the same problem. I opened the cover and CAREFULLY blew out the crap in the fan with compressed air. DON't touch the PCB. OUCH!! That helped. If the bearings are shot, get a new one from MESA. Greg

    Screw the tube kits....

I have tried EH tubes in my Triaxis, LSC and my 1994 rectifier. I HATE them. They sound fizzy and harsh. Different strokes, I guess. I do NOT play high gain music, maybe they are great for heavy music. They also seem to go bad quickly compared to others. I prefer almost anything NOS NIB...

LSC/LSS owners; are you happy with channel2?Want to fix it?

OK out of curiousity, I did the Reeder mod. So far I am pleased. I have 3 gigs this week and I will let everyone know. I find I have to turn the gain up to a higher number to acheive the old sound. So it is like the new gain structure starts on minus three without the mod. Since I feel that...
