    Lonestar Classic Models

I love really vintage tones and think the 10w mode is nice for this, just think early ZZ Top! But I dont hear a big difference to be honest, I do use it along with tweed mode and tube rectifers but only for jamming along with a mate or on my own. I read somewhere (I think it was on here) that...

    Lonestar Classic tubes advice

Hi Paul, Are you in the UK? I got a set of the harma cryo's for the pre-amp and Im quite happy with them. Check them out here, http://www.watfordvalves.com/products.asp?id=26&man=180 I got the standard kit and the discription is pretty close to the results I got but still got a little doubt in...

    Lonestar Classic Models

Hi gimme789, the newer versions with the 10w switch actually turn the amp into a pure class A, its still class A,B in 50 and 100w modes. Its the only difference I know of but thought it worth mentioning. When changing from class A to class A,B you get a noticable "pop" but nothing major, ie. if...

    Mark V vs. Lonestar Clean

I think if this poll was in the Lonestar board the results would favour the Lonestar, most people will likely vote for thier own amp! Im a Lonestar classic owner but never tried a Mk.V so cant comment, all I can say is the Lonestar has the nicest cleans Ive ever heard!!! The Mk.V must be awsome...

    Speaker Recommendation for LSS

Thanks for the advice! I was speaking to Derek at Watford Valves today, he was saying the golds are the best all-rounder and the Fane's offered the best smoothness! You can hear demos of all the speakers on his website; https://www.watfordvalves.com/home.asp Just hit "sound factory" at bottom of...

    Speaker Recommendation for LSS

Cheers jjtelarson, Will I still have enough clean headroom with the golds?

    Speaker Recommendation for LSS

Im looking at the Celestion Golds for my LSC 2x12 (going by the high praise there getting on here), seems they dont go past 50 watts, Would these still be ok seeing as the stock drivers are rated at 90 watts? I noticed Fane do alcino speakers with 100 watt rating, there very pricey though, even...

    Tweed mode?

Hi, I love the tweed mode! though I really only use it for jamming at low volumes, its a bit easier on your valves because yes it lowers the voltage. LS rocks!!!

Anyone using an eq pedal with lonestar classic?

I prob should of explained a bit better, I can get some sounds im really happy with but they seem to blur up a bit at high volumes, was wondering if an eq would help? Ive done reeder mod #2 and have a great little booster which actually filters out the bass instead of boosting the treble but...

Anyone using an eq pedal with lonestar classic?

Hi just looking for some opinions on eq's with lonestar, Thinking about getting one, looking at the 6 band mxr eq pedal. P.S. Never used an eq before so dont know how much of an effect they have or if you sacrifice some of the lonestars gorgeous tones? Any opinions greatfully recieved :)

    alternative to reeder mod?

This is true i know, although the great thing is it dosnt effect the amps tone at all so ive found leaving it on benifits both channels, pedal is set with no boost to the signal it jus makes things clearer, great thing about the lonestar it has its own boost built in, you can dial in some extra...

    Speaker Recommendation for LSS

HI there I can highly recommend a little pedal called "rothwell atomic booster" Ive been ranting on about it on another post but it really tightens up the bass and clears things up, it works great at low volumes too! I cant praise it highly enough! Its saved me from resorting to the reeder mod...

Why does my old LSS have so much (toneful) gain, compared?

Hi just a thought but maybe its the speakers? New speakers can tend to be a bit tight untill they get some use, "breaking in" if you will. Dont really know how big a difference it could make but I guess every little thing effects your overall sound.

    alternative to reeder mod?

Hi! First off all... Greetings from the north of Ireland :D I just got my first boogie the other day, (Lonestar Classic 2x12) and I instantly get what everyone is saying about the "muddiness" Also I use a les paul which perhaps makes it worse. As the amp is brandnew I dont really want to...
