Hi! First off all... Greetings from the north of Ireland :D

I just got my first boogie the other day, (Lonestar Classic 2x12) and I instantly get what everyone is saying about the "muddiness" Also I use a les paul which perhaps makes it worse.
As the amp is brandnew I dont really want to start fiddiling with the innerds so soon... Its only 2 days old but have no fear!!! I have have this little booster pedal which sorts out the muddiness like a dream! its a Rothwell Atomic Booster. It differs from the usual boosters out there because it gives a totally clean boost, it wont colour the amps tone in any way it really is great but the big secret is the treble knob! you have boost and treble knobs, the boost is straight forward but the treble knob is actually a filter not a boost, its filters out those low to mids and really tightens up the bass! I always liked this pedal but with the lonestar it really shines! it really is a little gem and looks the part too! I dont feel the need to mod my amp with this little pedal sitting in front of it I just felt like letting you all into my little secret

Something else worth considering (which I am),
there is a company called "watford valves" in England, They are currently doing some pre-amp valve kits for the lonestar. a low gain, med gain, high gain and a special kit to sound like that old mullard tone, all the kits claim to clear up the bottom end etc etc. May be worth looking into!

Hey Handyandy, you really are handy. Thanks for the info. The only problem with the boost is you gotta kick 2 switches for the overdrive ch. :( Unless you leave it on all the time. :) :?

This is true i know, although the great thing is it dosnt effect the amps tone at all so ive found leaving it on benifits both channels, pedal is set with no boost to the signal it jus makes things clearer, great thing about the lonestar it has its own boost built in, you can dial in some extra bass on channel 1 to compensate. Ive found the result very pleasing on the ear, Its the only pedal ive been using and seems to be all I'll ever need :) Oh and the neck pickup is so so sweet with the booster.
Rothwell actually has roots in the high end hi-fi market, perhaps thats why they have the know how to make such a great booster that keeps the signal as pure as the original.
Im not going to rule out the reeder mods but like i said, I dont think im ready to start messing with my nice new shiny amp haha

Actually, I do use a BBE stomp and that helps. I'm not going to say it's a silver bullet, but it does open up the frequency range and tighten up bass.
