Hi,

I am new to this board and I hope some of you could help me with one question I have. I am searching for the ultimate Clean tone, and I would like to know which of those amps could deliver it for me?

I have owned a Lonestar Classic, very good clean sound.

I now own a Mark V, I think it is better and more versatile.

Considering Randall took all the goods in the shop, and seemed to throw them into the MKV, I bet the lonestar rears its head somewhere in that circuit........

I think if this poll was in the Lonestar board the results would favour the Lonestar, most people will likely vote for thier own amp!
Im a Lonestar classic owner but never tried a Mk.V so cant comment, all I can say is the Lonestar has the nicest cleans Ive ever heard!!!
The Mk.V must be awsome to beat it but everyone has there own ears and a different take on what pleases them.
Main thing is your ears are happy and we are all owners of truly great amps!!!

I haven't played a Lonestar, but I have a Roadster which is suppose to have the Lonestar cleans. I loved the Mark V cleans, and actually hated the Roadster cleans at first but now after figuring out how to get the sparkle out of them I love em. I still favor the Mark V cleans though. Seemed like spank and sparkle (Roadster) vs complex chimey (Mark V). I heard the Electrodyne cleans are awesome, but I noodled around with it at the store and didn't really think they were better than Roadster or Mark (but I didn't play around with it that long so I'll chalk it up to that).

I play with an ESP M-II with EMGs and I'm always surprised at how great the tone is/was. When I played through several of Scheters and LTDs on the clean channels of several amps at the store I pretty much gave up on getting a great clean sound out of active pups, but the tones are there in my M-II.

I own head versions of the LSC and Mark V and I think the V can get the LSC cleans. There is also a NAMM review on youtube where the marketing guy from Mesa says the Fat mode of the V was taken exclusively from the LSC clean channel. With that being said there are so many things you can do with the clean channel of the V. Very versatile.

That actually makes sense because the Fat mode has the added bottom end like that of the LSC.
