    Why an OD Pedal??

I can't agree more. If you take a look at the great multi-amp rigs in use, you begin to understand why they are used. For example, mixing a Vox AC-30 with a Marshall JCM800 for mid gain tones. It's like the right hand lacing fingers with the left...the tones of one fill in the gaps in the...

    Why an OD Pedal??

Nice post Core9 I'll just add that I used to be just like you. I was a proud blues snob and believed it was just pure sin to place anything between the guitar and amp, save for a wah. The only delay worth using started in the TC Electronics rack units and went up from there. Since then, I'm...

    Why an OD Pedal??

I do. I run channels 3 and 4 in vintage mode at moderate gain. My TS-9 is currently running a TL072 chip, .22uF input cap, higher input resistor and a very asymmetrical clipping arrangement (4 1N4001 diodes against a 1N34a and a 1N914). There are other tweaks, but I feel these are the most...

    Why an OD Pedal??

I'm a pedal user...I always will be. There are moments of clarity where the Roadster delivers and I plug direct into it, but for the most part, I couldn't imagine playing without my modded TS-9/BD-2 combo. As far as the boutique overdrive thing, I'm a builder, so I'm constantly tweaking my own...

Which Mesa is best with a Telecaster?

I love playing through my Roadster...I get some great country spank out of channel 2 with a compressor. On another note, I fell in love with the LSS/Fender Esquire combination at guitar center. I went back 2 or 3 times a week after work just to jam on that setup. I don't think I've ever...

    New Mesa amp rumor!!

I'll just throw a "what-if" out there... What if Smith and co. are really over the Mark series. Really, think about it...Mesa has been moving in other directions. Yes, the Mark IV is a great amp, but the company has been developing a lot of other amps in the meantime. The Mark has been a...

So who else doesn't use "modern" on a Rectifier?

Same here...orange and red stay on vintage with the gain set very low compared to other recto users. I mostly hang out on channel 2 anyway...that channel is pure magic! Channel 3 is there when I need the grunt. Channels 1 and 4 go mostly unused unless the session calls for it. Every now and...

    Using Boss GT-8 with DR

I wrote up my experience with setting up the GT-8 to work with my Roadster. You should be able to dig it up somewhere. You might experience some odd issues with delays and other time based effects with the parallel loop, but you won't really know how it will react until you try it.

    played a roadster tonight!!

eh...it could have just been the fact that the floor model RK had been beaten to hell and back, but it sounded different to me. I know on paper they're identical (with exception to the extras the RK has, which can be disabled or just ignored), but with the same settings side by side they both...

    I have come full circle

I'll chime in with my place in this world... I'm 25 and I'm just starting to really appreciate what I get out of playing the guitar. I haven't been in a band in nearly 5 years, but I've made some major purchases (my first being a '63 reissue strat and my last being a mesa roadster head and...

    played a roadster tonight!!

Roadster owner here. Like I've said a few times before, I'm probably one of the few recto owners that doesn't use the roadster for anything associated with rectos. Channel 1 and 2 were more Fendery than my Fender HRD. So off goes the HRD. Channels 3 and 4 have a ton of range to them as well...

My wife is insane. NOW WITH PICTURES!!!

Sad to hear about the damage. Perhaps try to contact Mesa and Fender with your story and see if they might make an offer to repair the amps for free, or at least a discounted price. C'mon, your just a poor man trying to make it in this psycho wench world!!

    Roadster clean settings

I've got everything at noon except the treble, which is at around 2 o'clock. Reverb is around 9 or 10 o'clock. Switches stand at Fat, Bold, 50 watt and diode. I'm using a '63 reissue strat and the tone I get is somewhere between John Mayers "burning room" sound and Andy Timmons intro on...

LSS not good with Humbuckers? What?

Well, as much as I'd like to have an actual 335, I'll have to settle for the Epi Dot for now. Still, the Dot is an excellent guitar. I went hunting for one at my local GC, but in line with their lack of care for the product they sell, one guitar had a massive crack at the headstock (right...

LSS not good with Humbuckers? What?

My own experience...I'm a die-hard strat guy. I've recently been branching out, and I've had a major thing for the 335 for a very long time. I had a chance to try out an Epi dot at GC and I rely on the LSS for any guitar I try at GC. The humbuckers sounded great. I also tried a new Gibson LP...

Stiletto Ace EFX Loop as Sucky as Roadster?

Once you understand the relationship between the various level controls, the effects loop is easy to get a handle on. The Roadster took a lot more effort than my Fender HRD, but that was to be expected with such a complicated amp. Once the channels were balanced and their levels matched, all I...

Did NAMM just come and go?

Tremonti has recently incorporated a few more Bogners into his rig. Although he says the TR is still the center of his tone, his tones on the last album and recent live performances seem very Bogner-heavy. I have to present a counter-argument...there are a lot of Mark fanboys (most of which...

Which is the better Grab-N-Go? Express 5:25 vs Fender DRRI

Really, at the price you can nab one, I'd go for the Deluxe Reverb. Yeah, you won't have a gain channel, but a gain channel only matters if you use it. I lived at GC for a while playing an Esquire reissue through the Deluxe Reverb for half the time (the other half was spent playing the same...

1x15 Mark I with graphic EQ?

Has anyone ever seen a Mark I with this configuration? http://houston.craigslist.org/msg/542929731.html Anyone have any information about this? Thanks Chad

NAMM 2008 - Any rumors or exspectations?

I have to join a couple of you in saying that the Mark is kind of weak sauce these days. There is so much more going for Boogie now. Think about all of the amazing amps that have come out in just the last few years. The Lonestar Special, the Stiletto and the Roadster are all top notch and...
