What is the 4 knob beast underneath you're MKIV? A power amp of sorts?

Simul Satellite. Works with the Mark IV to provide a stereo set up. Works very well.

+1 I run a Simul-Satellite with my mark IV as well. I love being able to get very similar stereo image by setting them up the same, or getting more difference by varying the settings (EQ, Simul/Class A). The Simul-Satellite is a very underrated amp.
