A few months ago I wasn't feeling the love for my DR any more So I put it up on CL. Wanted a Mark III ended up with a Double Cross. :( So after much thought I posted the Double Cross and my C90 cab on HC. I Missed my Mesa very much. I got instant responses for both. I ended up with a Mark III greenie. I haven't gotten rid of my cab yet but a guy locally want's to trade me for a Recto cab with V30's.

So far I am in love with the cab with the C90's if I continue with the trade will I regret it? How do V30's sound with a Mark? I am worried that the V30's with their mid spike will make the amp to shrill. So what are your experiences with either speaker and should I keep the C90 cab?

I appreciate any opinion on the 2 as I am a Newb when it comes to speakers.

Thanks
Dave B.

What music style(s) do you play? I'm diggin' my C90s in a pair of Boogie 2x12s right now, but that's playing power rock/blues/70's 80's stuff. If I were into metal genres, I'd probably prefer the V30s...seems to be the popular choice. Any chance you could test them side by side? I'd also demo Greenbacks, if available.

The Recto cab doesn't have as strong a mid spike as other V30 loaded cabs. The way they tuned it kind of smooths out the spike and de-accentuates the pick attack.

Mix 'em.

I have a Vintage 30 and a Mesa C90, both 8ohm speakers, that I wired in series and put in a 2x12 cab. This is my favorite cab, at the moment.

The C90 covers the lows and highs and the V30 covers the mids. Great mix.
