I've been lurking here off and on for several years now. I do the cover thing in and around Atlanta and have tried everything from Line 6 to ADA to Traixis to my current Rivera M100 looking for both versatility and tonal satisfaction. While all of these served the purpose, none really got me off in the way I was looking for. I'd tried out a Mark IV in the past, but never really spent much time with it.

Well I finally bit the bullet last month and ordered one brand new (ouch$$$) from Boogie! Opted for the short head (thinking rack) with tan grill cloth. Now I need to find a cab(s) to match. I've been playing through a pair of vertical 2x12, slant top V-30 loaded cabs ( I go back and forth on the stereo thing), and am thinking about going open/partial open back (ala THD) this time. Stage footprint and portability are factors as I gig pretty much every week. A single horizontal 2x12 will still allow for stereo when I choose, but I'm really liking the look of the oversized 2x12 vertical rectifier cab. Man, that cab w tan grill cloth and my rack/head on top would really look nice.

I have enjoyed this forum and am glad I finally joined. I have been taking notes on Mark IV settings and can't wait for my new toy to arrive! Any thoughts or comments on cabs would be appreciated.

Congrats and welcome.

On cabs for live situations I like 1x12's (one thiele and one open back depending on the gig, sometimes both). Less space on stage, huge volume from them (mine have the 200 watt ev's in them) and great tone. If the venue is bigger than a 1x12 can handle, they usually have a PA and soundguy.

Ahh.. Another success story... 8)

A tip for you.. Keep the bass eq. on all channels LOW (3 tops)!

Here's something I was experimenting with yesterday and it sounded really big, turning the mids to 10 on the lead channel and scooping them on the GEQ while at the same time having the bass low (2-3) and boosting it on the GEQ. Gives a great thick sound that's nicely defined.

Congrats on the MKIV.

I do the coverband thing here in California with my MKIV.

We do everything from Elvis to Velvet Revolver and the MKIV is a beast on all of it.

I, too, own a Rivera M100 in addition to my Boogie (Studio Pre/395). I do think I prefer the Boogie overall. I have fantasies sometimes about trading the M100 for a Mark III or something but I don't think I could bring myself to...the M100 takes care of the Fender and Marshall tones while the Boogie has its own thing going on.

Just heard from my dealer that my Mark IV is on the way! Should be here next week (just enough time to get it set up and worked into the rig for shows next weekend).

My search for cabs led me to a slant front, closed back 4x10 w/ casters. Looks like a mini 4x12 and is very light and easy to move around! I replaced the drivers w Eminence Copperheads and Ragin Cajuns and made a 1/3 open back. I've got it wired for mono or stereo and so far it's been a good match for the M100. We'll have to see how it sounds with the MkIV.

I'll drop a line when the head gets here.
