i've got 2 yellow jackets with el84's in them, can i just replace any of my 6l6s or is there a science to this? also should i have bought 4 yj? help me please
 
You can do that with no problem..

Make yours look like what mine used to look like :)
(note: I am using EL34's as my other pair so that's why my tube select is on EL34 mode. Keep yours at 6L6.)
 
Yes, since you have chosen to use 6L6 tubes, you need to keep your tube setting where it was, on 6L6. The YJ are in essence replacing a pair of your 6L6's and also lowering your wattage a bit. Runs in pseudo class-A
 
I was told by the folks at THD that the preferred location for Yellowjackets is the outside pair just like on the picture of Platypus' DR. The combined output is around 70 watts.

BTW, I'm also running mine in conjunction with EL-34's and the tone of that combination is awesome!
