Xotic AC Booster

Any one use one of these?

I might be able to get a deal on one and Im interested in the Xotic line as I am a HUGE Andy Timmons fan. My Nomad already sounds great and It has a solo boost so what would be a good application of a booster like this? How do you guys use one?

I have the AC+. I use the left side to crunch my clean channel, and the right side to add some liquid to solos alongside the solo boost. With the regular AC pedal, I'd still experiment with crunching your clean channel (just sounds different than using your overdrive channel and in my case, in a good way) or step on the AC when you want to solo alongside the solo boost button.

I noticed in Nashville a lot of guys had the AC on their board and used it for their solo boost and to put some hair on their tone. AC by the way pretty transaparent, and the distortion you get out of it sounds like the amps distortion (in Stiletto's case). It just gives me more of what I already got which is what I was looking for. And I haven't had the gain up past 11:00 - there's plenty of gain to go around in that pedal unless you really need a ton, then look at BB.

I'm trying out the ac booster and have to say it really rocks. I've been using the zw od for a couple of years now and starting to like the ac alot better. It'll probably replace the zw permanently.

Neat! I really like Andy Timmons tone on the song "Resolution" and Im thinking this pedal would be great for that. The BB would probably be too much gain anyway and if I need that much...hellloooo I have a Mesa!!!

I had the bb also for a couple of months and it was way to much for me. I like to run the amps gain very high and just push it over the edge with a pedal. I prefer the amps natural distortion to pedals.

So is the AC similar to the Barber LTD?

AC=medium gain overdrive, mid hump, more gain
so yeah, probably into LTD territory...

the RC is much cleaner, a real booster.

The Barber LTD is a bit lower gain than the AC, and a little "warmer". The AC is a killer pedal though, for my needs, I went LTD....
