Check this picture. It looks like an "X", not a "+". Any ideas???

Early Mk III with an X or a black dot.

What's the serial #?

That thing has been on Gbase for ever...
Nice NOS Sylvania's though.

Not sure of the serial number. What can I expect on an early Mark III? I've owned a Mark IIC and a Mark IV.

I just took another look at that amp. It is a very early MK III. The face plate below the power switches states " Mesa/Boogie ltd.". Not soon after it said Mesa Boogie MK III below the switched. Knowing Mesa and how they prototyped ( on the public) all the different stripes over the years, I would really think it would be hard to determine the real tone of this amp without playing it.

Boogiewan Kenobies site may put it best " #1 - No mark or a little dot. Only a few hundred then some balck marks or "+"'s .

- Lean and powerful amp with more output power than a IIC+

This may be one of the earliest ones due to the X, even before the black dot or no dot.
