Cabinet does not matter to me but must have Simulclass, Reverb and EQ!

Looking for a head but a combo will do.

I AM SERIOUS

Bob :p

The MarkIV combo with an EVM is boat anchor heavy. The tranny in the IIC+ is way bigger. I couldn't imagine trying to lift that into the back of my truck. I gave up with the MarkIV combo trying to put it in the back of my truck (one of the primary reasons I went back into the head cabinet- other than it almost rolling end over end when the casters caught the carpet going down the hall). Adding a roadcase will buy you a ticket to the ER for sure. Maybe I should drop my truck back down some. Is 10" of lift too much? When loading out a Mark combo that is loaded with an EVM it is. I have worked in construction as a framer most of my adult life lifting heavy beams and standing walls.

ALL the Mark series combos are heavy... generally from 72 - 85 pounds depending on model, cabinet, and speaker. I've had them all... But they're heavy because the transformers are so beefy, which is what give the Mark their great sound! And mine generally have EV speakers which easily add 5-8 pounds over "normal" speakers. Then there's the hardwood cabs... It all adds up, but it's a great amp, so who cares! ;)

As to your original post, I have a Mark IIB in a very amazing flamed Maple cabinet w/reverb and EQ and even though it's non-simul (60/100) I'd put it up against any Mark IIC.. It was also modded at Mesa to add the post-FX control (before I got it) and with it's EV speaker it just kills! I think having Simul is overrated as well as Mark IIB vs. Mark IIC. There will be good and not-so-good versions of each model... maybe I'm just lucky to have a good one! :D

Hey Bob check out my post on my Mark IIC+. Would the "before" amp have satisfied your "Cabinet does not matter to me but must have Simulclass, Reverb and EQ!" criteria, :D.

Seriously keep looking. It may take a while but with perseverance you will find what you are looking for. BTW the amp is a fully loaded iic modded to iic+ with the export tranny. A very nice find for me.

Hi GTS,

Sorry, I sold it to fund a Zinky Superfly head and cab purchase. Whew! What a freakin amp! This 32 channel, All tube, high gain amp is remarkable!

I am still looking for a loaded IIC+ head or combo. If I find one that does not meet my needs I'll send it your way!

Thanks,

Bob
