Wooden face plate for Dual Rec head?

Thanks. I did remove the diamond plate first, and adhered the maple to the wood panel underneath.

Man, that totally owns the chrome diamond plate! I'm a big fan of both the light colour and the darker one. Now I'd like to see that dark wood stain and finish with a chrome chassis Dual. I bet that would be phenomenally awesome!

Now all you need to do is start and Angle 4 x 12 project with a complementary design!

Which flavour (brand and model) of 4 x 12 are you running with your dual!? I'm always curious what everyone likes for cab / speaker combos.

I'm actually using a Peavey 5150 cab, but with two Celestion T75s and two Vintage 30s.

How do you like the G12T - 75 / V30 combination? I also prefer to mix speakers but I like a Greenback of either the G12m or G12H flavour with a V30. Some people complain the G12T 75s are scratchy but they also have such a nice grindy tone.

I haven't really done a great deal of comparison. I've had a V30 cab and a T75 cab, and the Peavey cab with the stock Sheffields. The T75 / V30 combo is what I've liked the best and it works so I haven't tried to improve on it.

I don't like a lot of high end in my tone, I usually try to zap the top end to keep things buttery smooth, so I probably wouldn't expose the fizzy side of the T75's.

I pulled out the chassis, which is pretty straightforward, and the placed the shell face down on a soft surface, placed a wood block against the small exposed edge of the diamond plate (which appears once you pull out the chassis), and with a few hits with a mallet it popped right off. It's just attached with double sided tape. I attached the maple the same way.

Be warned, however, that the adhesive is pretty strong. I ended up pulling a little bit of the plastic face off of the underlying wood panel. (It's like a piece of melamine behind the diamond plate.) It didn't bother me because it will always be hidden.

Could you do one in flamed maple with a trans-purple finish? It would match my purple jewel light then lol. Heck I might buy one from you around x-mas time if you start doing them.

We think alike That's exactly what I did with mine. When I read your post, I thought "I don't remember typing in this thread" because I wrote that same post a few months ago almost word for word. Your faceplates look awesome!

I wonder how well g12-65's would do with that amp. They certainly got an attenuated high end thing going on.
