Neal Schon
Lothar Kosse
Thomas Blug
Tommy Denander
Ritchie Blackmore
Michael Landau

Just to name a few...

Bob Weir. I am a huge fan of his and The Grateful Dead. IMO, he is one of the most under-rated guitarists around right now. He's a great song writer and his work in The Dead has been a huge influence on my style.

I am also a big fan of Robben Ford, Larry Carlton, David Gilmour, and Dicky Betts.

when i think about it, even if i mention 2-3 guitar players, i like bands and not guitarists... all this solo's thing are really boring... music is about puting sounds together... i hate music when it's just about showing "what i can do", showing virtuosity etc... virtuosity must serve the song, as miles davis said : "virtuosity is not about playing thousand notes in a second, it's about playing the right one at the right moment"... that's why i mention rythm guitar player not soloist... if you wanna hear what i call "virtuosity serve song and music", well listen to battles, don caballero, sleeping people, oxes, stuff like that...

if i HAVE to pick only one?

ADRIAN BELEW

the guy's like a magician so i'll forgive him for using modeling gear.

Joe Satriani
Randy Rhoads
Mathais Jabbs
Wolf Hoffman
Micheal Shenker
John Petrucci
Steve Vai
Billy Gibbons
Uli Jon Roth
Jimi Hendrix
SRV
Rudolf Schenker
Mark Knopfler
So many more, I just can't list them all!

Somewhat in order:

Satch
Andreas Kissrer and Max Cavalera
Hetfield
Mustaine
Bill Steer
Mitch Harris & Jesse Pintado
Munky & Head
The Edge
Jeff Loomis
Paul Gilbert

No KoRn Fans here, huh? i think their use of FX and dissonant noise was ground-breaking. I was bored with metal and wondered what new territory there was left to explore and their music grabbed me.
