who designed the ED? I thought I read that Randall Smith didn't design the amp, is that true?
Love this amp thinking of pulling the trigger.

I am 99% sure it was designed by Dan Van Riezan (sp?). I also understand the prototype ED was one of the most popular amps around the shop with Boogie employees. The only reference about the name I can find is the early 70's kid show "Electra Woman and Dyna Girl".....

To be honest with you- Nobels are given away to people often without any measurable criteria, let's give him an award worthy of accomplishment. I gave away nobels for halloween last year...

Amen!! That prize is worthless now!

It wasn't Randall. I don't know if that has ever been the case for any other Mesa

Who cares who designed it. It sounds AWESOME and I hope the designer got some sort of massive employee bonus for that thing.

I'm not talking about the inane and ambiguous peace or literature prize. Lets aim a little higher, shall we?

The Nobel Prize in Physics

“The said interest shall be divided into five equal parts, which shall be apportioned as follows: /- - -/ one part to the person who shall have made the most important discovery or invention within the field of physics ...”
(Excerpt from the will of Alfred Nobel)

Physics was the prize area which Alfred Nobel mentioned first in his will. At that time, in the end of the nineteenth century, many people viewed physics as the foremost of the sciences, and perhaps Nobel saw it this way as well. His own research was also closely tied to physics.

In 1901 the very first Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded to Wilhelm Röntgen for his discovery of X-rays. In more recent years, the Physics Prize has been awarded for both pioneering discoveries and groundbreaking inventions.

The Nobel Prize in Physics is awarded by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.

I think the 'dyne qualifies =-p

I'm curious to know who designed the amp and would like to know the history of the name. According to the Google button on my Internet machine Electra Woman and Dyna Girl was a 1976 show and a failed 2001 TV pilot.

Yeah, when this amp first came out and I began researching the Electra Woman Dyna Girl show I came across that episode....crazy! I think we need to call Mesa about the name- real curious what they will attribute it to...

All I can think of origin-wise for the name is....
Harley-Davidson ELECTRA glide
Harley-Davidson DYNA wide glide
WTF do I know ?

Yup, I think you are right.

If you look down his twitter page you will see
"I finished the Electra-Dyne recently and have had an amazing response! Players are loving it! Just finished a small update to the amp."
