I have taken possession of a studio 22+ and recently it has developed an unwelcome "whooshing" sound, similar to the sound of wind gusting on a mic. I have changed the power tubes and a couple of the preamp tubes, which improved things but it is still happening periodically even with guitar unplugged. Has anyone got any ideas????

I had something like that, but with another brand amp. I checked all preamp tubes and one of them was causing it. Maybe you can look into that again as you only replaced some preamp tubes, not all, or the right one(s) for that matter

I have located the culprit and it's now sorted. Thanks for the advice.

I had to look up the word culprit, but I think you found a faulty tube causing it?

A faulty rythmn preamp tube. Doing this has also gotten rid of a nasty pop when the standby switch was turned on.
