Which Trem do you like better?

I currently have a Lo-Pro Tremolo on my guitar that needs replaced in the near future. I was just wondering if I should get another Lo-Pro, or if the Regular Floyd-style has a different/better feel, or if it makes the string changes harder/easier? Either one doesn't really bother me, I was just wondering if anyone has a preference, and if so, why? Thanks in advance

I don't recall ever playing a guitar equipped with a Lo-Pro, but I own a couple of guitars with the normal Floyd Rose style double locking tremolo. (An Ibanez RG-550 with the Edge Pro trem & an 80's Kramer Pacer with a real Floyd.) I don't know if one would sound better than the other. As far as changing strings, I've never had any problems changing strings on my Floyd equiped guitars, and from the looks of the pics it doesn't seem like one would be any easier than the other, although they are a pain in the *** to set up. Nowadays I prefer the sound of a vintage strat-style trem, with the stamped sheet metal saddles. (not the casted pot metal saddles like what was on the 70's strats) I think the regular Floyd Rose looks cooler than the Lo-Pro. The single locking tremolos have always bothered me, they just look cheap to me.

I'd recommend getting a decent quality tremolo, like a real Floyd Rose or a Schaller, that are actually machined, & they are worth the extra $ spent. Stay away from the cheaper, flimsy locking trems.

I use the original floyd (with the stainless screw upgrades, and titanium block inserts) on my 88 Jackson and I think it sounds better then the lo-pro I had on my Ibanez Jem 10th Anniversary.

The other things to consider is the products used in trem production ie. brass, die cast (yuk) or just plain old bent steel ( I think the best!) But as usual let your ears be the judge, and of course your playing technique has to be accomodated in in that respect I guess many players would now favour the lo-pro....where as us oldies like the 'Floyd!' (also the folks at floyd are great to talk to about all this and very helpful!!...and the lady on the desk has a real sexy voice )
