Which 4x12 for a Triaxis?

So, I've decided to get a 4x12 instead of a 2x12 for my Triaxis/2:90. Teh gf says that a 2x12 would look wayyyyyy too sad sitting in a corner of our room. So a 4x12 it is. But which one?

The traditional Rectifier cab is now called the Stiletto cab, right? Is it very different than the other Rectifier cab? Oversized or something...

Do angled and straight sound different or is it a purely aesthetic difference?

I'm thinking of getting a traditional Recto/stiletto cab, but if the differences aren't THAT huge, then I'll just get the first 4x12 Recto with a reasonable price on eBay.

Speaking of prices, whats a good price for the 4x12's in good condition?

I'd get a Roadking 4x12 that way you can take advantage of the stereo in the Triaxis. I'll tell you what, if you play out your gonna end up hating 4x12's!! I use to drag a full stack to every gig until my back said "screw you i'm gonna herniate!!!". Nothing beats the look of a stack of 4x12's though.

ROADKING 4x12? Don't the recto 4x12's run in stereo too? Dunno how often you see a RK cab without the head...

The recto runs in stereo as well, but the roadking has the advantage of halfback, so you can run half the signal open back and half covered, sounds really good together.

I've seen recto cabs from $400-700 on ebay/craigslist...but I wouldn't pay more than $550. I would find one on craigslist, and talk em down. My favorite cab of the moment is an Orange 4x12. I hate the way it looks with my DR...but the sound is awesome. I've compared it with a mesa halfback (vintage 50's), marshall 1960a, and a marshall 1960AV (vintage 30) cab, and the orange has come out on top (ie comes closest to my idea sound) I plan on comparing it to the rectifier series cabs next. I'd get a RK 4X12 or just a traditional rectifier 4X12.

OK i finally got everything together with my own two speaker cables. Now, the 2:90 manual says:

Six jacks deliver the 2:90's incredible tone to your favorite speaker cabinets. One eight ohm and two four ohm jacks per channel are provided. Use one eight ohm cabinet in the eight ohm jack. Use two eight ohm cabinets into the two four ohm jacks. Use one four ohm cabinet into one four ohm jack. Use one sixteen ohm cabinet into the eight ohm jack. Two sixteen ohm cabinets into a "y" cable works even better in the eight ohm jack.

But... the 4x12 seems seems to have one 8 ohm input for mono and two 4 ohm's for stereo. So... do I just plug each 4 ohm ohm input into a 4 ohm ouput on each of the 2:90's channels?

Yes. You plug each 4 ohm ohm input into a 4 ohm ouput on each of the 2:90's channels.

Download just about any amplifier manual from Mesa's website for the ways to hook cabs into Mesa amps.
