I just use barbed wire from abandoned cow pastures....cheaper that way, but my sustain seems to suffer a bit...along with what's left of my fingers.....

Actually, just kidding...I buy from my locally owned shop...they match any price, and I've found that 25 years of buying from one of the owners develops a great owner-customer loyalty.

Hey guys,

I was in the market for some strings and read about Webstrings in this thread so I thought I'd check them out.

Placed an order the 13th and got them this morning (16th)... They look pretty good. I'll slap a set on here in the next day or so and see how they do but the ordering was secure and headache free and they were on my doorstep 3 days later... ****...... 8)

If they're good strings, which they appear to be, that will be my route for quite a while.

I just thought I'd pass along the info.

Peace

I go to the Musician's Friend clearence center (in Kansas City) and buy mine there (Fender Bullets for my strats, Martin strings for my acoustic, D'Addario XL's for everything else). They sometimes sell them (as well as other merchandise) at below their catalog prices, and no shipping (just gas:p) But if I'm desperate, I just buy them at my local mom & pop store. Do you know Walmart sells strings, as well as picks, straps & cables here? (GHS Boomers, i think...) But, I have a problem buying music stuff at Walmart....

I always buy bargain barrel strings.
Lots of variety. No clear winners.

$2.99 - $3.99 a set.

Sometimes they're in odd guages, so I have to mix and match.
Went through a ton of stainless Fenders last year. Liked 'em.

The current batch seems to be red and blue coated DR's. A couple places locally are blowing 'em out for $3/set of 10 - 46.
I like 11 - 48 but will take what's available unless 9's.

I save the gay lookin' blue ones for weenies that break a string and hit me up for my spares.

At my local store, "Bananas at Large". They are a little unorganized, but a friendly little shop. www.bananas.com

GHS (Boomers and Progressives) for my Electrics
D'Addario for my Acoustic

The brand of string that I can't stand are DR's. The always break when I go to bend! Never fails, I have never had a set of GHS break on me. Sure the GHS lose life a little early, but I love the feeling and sound of new strings!
