My new MKIV amp showed up with both Mesa Russian I's and Russian II 12ax7 preamp tubes. My question is, what's the difference in the two? Also this is suposed to be a new amp, how old are the russian I's 12ax7's? I also received the amp with two Mesa 6l6's and two Mesa 5881's, is this the way they ship from the factory? I'm feeling a little worried about what I bought.

That's very strange, they usually ship with 4 6L6's... the preamp thing is less strange to me at least. I'd call them up and figure out what's going on.

i just got off the phone. It seems the amp was sitting for awhile and they think some one broke the tubes when putting the footswitch on the back and yada yada. the big thing is they're sending all new tubes, which is great. The footswitch got messed up in shipping. i had to take it apart. The two leds on the loop and eq got ripped out. I bent them back into place and had to put some hot glue on them to hold it. It's been a little rough so far, but the amp seems to be fine.

Man, I'd be asking for a new footswitch, tubes, and an apology... you paid for something as new and you should get it.. you shouldn't have to hack the product to get it to the state it should have been in when you bought it.

I got a good price$1600 shipped, it would have cost $1900 here(and then 7%tax), but your right. I just don't want to go through the hassle. I tried my JJ 6l6 and they were way to cold(19ma @ 445 plate volts) the mesa's that are in there are at 35ma wich is where i run my tubes. So for now I'll be going with the mesa tubes. i have a set of 6v6's on the way too. Amp looks and sounds great.
