Behringer FC1010 seems to be the most popular midi controller these days. I need to find something sometime soon myself. Not sure I need dual CCs which is holding me back from the FC1010.

i considered this pedal, but it doesn't have phantom power.

so i ruled it out.

i just picked up an older Ground Control pedal to tide me over until i decide on a different Bigger Pro model.

Awesome - how do you control something which does not have a midi port? (Say, in lieu of the Road King Foot Controller, or a foot pedal) Is there a way / piece of equipment so that with the push of one button on the all access you can activate a different channel on a non-midi amp, a different patch on the g-force, and a foot pedal, all at the same time?

Looks like you're trying to do exactly what I'm doing.

I control my Roadster with an Amp Gizmo from RJM, and switch my tube screamer in and out with a Nobels ALEX-1 loop switcher. I control everything with a Nobels MF-2 MIDI floorboard.

Nobels is a German company, so scrounging E-bay is your best bet. The loop switcher takes an A/B switch as input, of which your G-Major has two. The Behringer FCB-1010 has two, and the MF-2 has four. The MF-2 also can switch between 9V DC, battery, or phantom power.

FWIW, the FCB1010 Yahoo group has instructions on how to covert this to phantom power. As long as you are handy with a soldering iron and some wire cutters, it is a piece of cake. However, nothing can be done about the fragility of the thing. After a year of hard gigging, three buttons on mine no longer worked. They really are junk to be avoided, unless you buy a case big enough to fit it in. At that point, though, your money could be better spent on a higher quality unit.

Check out the Nobels MF-2 I use. If you don't need to program control changes, it is a great unit.

You just use the external switching jacks on the amp and a midi switcher, the switcher is controlled by the midi foot controller as are the other devices that do have midi ports. I do this with a Groud Control Pro midi controller and GCX midi switcher setup. Both the midi controller and the switcher are made by Voodoo Labs and can be seen here:

Awesome. Just what I needed to know. And you explained it a lot more clearly than I think other people have tried to. :wink: Anyway, do you know of any set ups comparable to the ground control and gcx switcher? Maybe a step up? Would you consider an all access to be comparable, or a step up? And (sorry for all the questions), is a gcx switcher compatible with an all access or other brand foot controller?

Thanks in advance!!

Ground Control = Expensive

That is why I didn't go that route. I got my Amp Gizmo for around $300, the Mesa amp cable for $50, and the Nobels Floorboard for $150.

MIDI: Floorboard -> Amp Gizmo -> G-Major
Switcher Cable: Amp Gizmo -> Roadster

That's it. $500 for a turn key solution. My entire switching system consists of three cables. Why run eight 1/4" cables when you can plug directly into the footswitch jack?

Thanks for the comments. The Nobels MF-2 looks very interesting. Hope its reliable over time.
