what stripe is this mark III?

I am confused. As you can see below. my mark III has a purple swipe above the power cord but it also has a red R. What stripe would this be?

You have a purple stripe Mark III with the reverb mod (that is what the red R signifies).

The whole "stripe" thing gets a little confusing after the green stripe was launched and MESA was still making the blue stripe 60 and 60/100 watt models during the same timeframe. :wink:

Here's my old blue stripe. Somewhat of an oddity.

Definitely a blue stripe. Definitely built after Mark IVs were being built. (Jan/Feb '94). This amp is a 60 watt model.

awesome thank you. i use this amp for recording and live shows. i have another mark III which is a 1988 60 watt blue stripe to the best of my knowledge. I have to tinker with it some more. it has all electro-harmonix tubes in it right now and it does not sound even close to as good as this amp does.
