Hi I am finding that my mark III is a little fizzy. What preamp tubes will smooth it out to get a real fluid smooth lead tone? But also not loose distortion/overdrive.
Currently i have all mesa 12ax7s
Thanks

NOS Mullard 12AX7s in V1 and V3.
V1 is closest to the input. Then V2, V3, etc.
I find them on eBay for $15-$20 all the time.
Sometimes they are branded for other users, like manufacturers such as Rogers or Daystrom.
I agree, go easy on the Bright switches and Presence.

i think the JAN philips 5751 changed the sound of my amp a good bit. i use it in the phase inverter position.

Sans fizz in a MKIII, easy:

1. NOS Mullard CV4024 (12at7s) in V2, V3, and PI.
2. NOS Mullard ax7 (or also good is the Tung-sol RI) in the V1
3. Keep the Pres off or low.
