The major thing I liked about the Nova System & the G-System was the delay and the dedicated Tap Tempo button.

Based on this, what is the best delay for the dollar & why?????

If your looking for a unit with presets along with tap tempo i'd take a look at the Eventide Time Factor. If your more into analog the EHX Memory Man Hazari is great aloong with Diamond Memory Lane, Boss DD7 using an external switch for tap tempo, Vox Time Machine or a Keeley Modded AD9.

After playing a bit with the Timefactor- I admit its in a league of its own, but FOR THE MONEY- the TC Nova Delay is hands down the best value in a delay at $250 new....

+1 on the Eventide Timefactor. Several delays to choose from and all of them good ones. No cheesy, frilly, never gonna use delays plus it has a 12 second looper. Modulation is available on all but a couple of delay types and it is very transparent in my effects loop. The kicker for me is the ability to run two different delay times simultaneously and able to tap tempo them together, plus you are able to mix the level of the two together. You can get some really cool effects with this feature. By far my favorite pedal.

:D **** John, hot singer in your band and you get to play with all the cool toys!!!!!!!!

I'm really thinking that a processor is not what I want.
The Timefactor (used) or a Nova Delay sound like the ticket for me.
Guess I'll have to do a lot of research to see which one I want.

Plus, now I need another pedal board since I sold my old one to get the G-System.
 At least it's not crack!

I'm an Eventide Timefactor user and love it. It is a serious piece of machinery and I probably will only use 20% of what it's capable of. I haven't owned the TC but always hear great things about it, and the reputation speaks for itself. The decision point was Timefactor is able to run 2 delays simultaneously (think Edge) so no matter what, I've either got a Timefactor on my board or 2 separate delays, thus I chose Timefactor. If it wasn't for the need for 2 simultaneous delays, I probably would go TC for cost and size reasons. I would never consider a delay without modulation as it adds that nice shimmer to the repeats so Timefactor, TC, even Boss Gigadelay all good choices (the Line6 DL4 a little iffy on the reliability scale but it does sound good).

Yeah i'm always on the brink of going one way or another. The Axe-FX is light years ahead of almost any other fx unit I've played and the verbs and delays are 1000x better than what'd I'd find in a pedal, but its also a complicated piece of machinery. The instant gratification you get with a few pedals is hard to come by in something like the Axe-fx because there are so many parameters sometimes you get lost. So unless I know what specific sound I want, I dont touch all but maybe 5% of the parameters, which in a way is a bummer because it can do so much more. I do think at times I should just sell it, get a few pedals and put some money in the bank.... but the Reverbs are just too **** good.

BTW were you directing the John comment at me?

I wouldnt go towards dd7 as i own one and its quite noisy unit especially on lead chanel, sounds fine on clean though. You can get those u2 sounds, delay up to 6,4 seconds and ~40 second looper all depends on configuration you want to use.

the timefactor is really great.
i am using now digidelay of digitech. it is very simple and doing its job well.
very pleased with it.

timefactor in the loop. However I can't tell you how it would sound outside of the loop, because I've never put it there. I had a really bad experience with the dl4 delay in front while overdriving and never looked back at putting delays there.

Do you guys with the Timefactor or Nova Delay run your pedals in the loop or in front of the amp?

I've run the Timefactor both ways and it is much quieter in the effects loop. Into the front of the amp it works fine, I just got a hiss whenever the pedal was used, off it was silent. In the effects loop it is dead quiet, on or off.

I went with an MXR Carbon Copy a few months ago. I put it in the loop of a 5:25 head. No tap tempo and I have to tweak the knobs to go from Gilmour/Edge type sounds to slapback BUT...it sounds SO warm! I like the simplicity of it. I've used processor delays in the past and there are way too many features/parameters to tweak for my taste.

I agree with you on there being too many parameters to tweak for my taste as well but I do like the single processor in the loop because it's easier for me than having a bunch of pedals. I usually only use a little echo or reverb but I like the option of all the other effects like harmonizer, rotary/tremolo, chorus, flange etc and I just don't want to haul that many pedals around. The high end pedals most likely sound better than my Rocktron Xpression but the audience would never know and for recording I don't even use my processor. The effects in my Sonar Producer sound better to me anyway.

Part of me wants to be a major tweaker with effects because its kind of fun and get a Mark V because of its incredible flexibility and features but in the end I'm just too lazy.

Best delay for the buck?

MXR Carbon Copy.

Not TEH BEST DELAY EVAH!!!!.... but for the money it's outstanding. I'm sure the Evantide and TC delays are great... but they have more knobs than I'd want to deal with.

ok now i have 2 options:
the tc nova or the timefactor.
sure the time factor is away better. but is it worth its price (in israel is almost twice)?
