From what I've read, the heads have been offered in different cosmetic options throughout the years, but the colors and knob styles were never linked directly to anything mechanical (I don't think?).
The only way to tie a specific cosmetic version to a particular mechanical version is to go back through history and determine if any Rectifiers were only sold in one cosmetic style (no options). I really don't think that happened though.
