I'm finally thinking of getting a wah and volume pedal to pair with my Mark V Head/Rectifier 2x12 Horizontal. I thought you guys might have some suggestions on a wah pedal that pairs well with the Mark V. Any suggestions on a volume pedal that isn't a tone sucker?

I've searched around on the internet on these topics and found just about as many opinions as hairs on my head, so I figured I'd see what the experts have to say :D

No expert here...

But I have two wahs that I like with the Mark V.
Buddah Wah (pre-2004) and a newer MXR/CAE 404.
The former is more vocal and it has a clean "classic"
wah sound. The latter has more modern wah sounds,
it's highly adjustable and geared towards screaming
and growling :)

For a volume pedal, I'm liking the Dunlop DVP3 / Volume X.
Some of the guys here turned me onto putting it in the FX
loop and it works great there.

Good luck finding yours!!!

I've heard good things about the Fulltone Clyde. It is currently at the top of my list.

I use the Tremonti Wah and a 25k Ernie Ball VP Jr in the loop. The Tremonti wah is a tad too subtle for me but I like the switchless operation and variable gain boost. Great for enhancing solos but not going to give you crazy wah tones.

The Fulltone Clyde Deluxe is an awesome wah pedal for someone who doesn't travel the full spectrum of the wah, back and forth, over an over.

In other words, if you're capable and willing to travel within one area of the wah (say the middle third, for example) then the Clyde Deluxe is just awesome. Also, one of the three modes is WAYYY too tinny but the other two are simply badazz!

However, IMHO... My choice for the absolute best wah, especially if you're the type of wah player that moves through the entire sweep or spectrum of the wah a lot, then my vote is the Teese RMC8-Eqwahlizer. It has a much more organic and warm tone compared to the Clyde Deluxe and the sound does not get lost when using the full spectrum a lot. It reminds me of the first time I ever played a wah...it takes me back to the wah sound that I feel like I've been chasing ever since!

I still love the Clyde Deluxe too and still use it. But I strongly recommend you at least try out the RMC8...game changer! IMO!

By the way, I've always used the Ernie Ball Volume pedals but I've heard that the Goodrich L10K is, by far, the best sounding Volume pedal available today. I can't speak for this product personally but it's supposedly the most transparent and most efficient option out there!

I would love to hear anyone's feedback re: the Goodrich L10K please!!! Thanks!

Jerry Cantrell and the Volume X!!!!!
I had the volume jr but it really sucked the tone. The volume X is perfect and the same size as the way. Place it in the effects loop.
